The thing about all these Tate's and Doulas's and Mercers etc etc. If Tyson was really that ordinary, how did he rule the division the way he did and why did none of them. What was it about him that made everybody in the world know his name, becuase it wasn't his life outside the ring during those prime years. It was the fact that he was an awesome fighter- I agree that from Douglas onwards he was just a good heavyweight, but before that, no matter how short the period was , he was great
Nice to get this one started again ;D
Good Point!!!......Imo A lot of the stand up to Tyson and you can beat him is twisted...Yes I believe that it is partially true but at what point in his career?....The young Mike who unified the titles had Heart...He also had guys around to help build his heart...We all know Mike is emotionally weak and needs to have people around him to believe in him to reassure him...Once the support system was gone he lost faith in himself...But a Tyson in the mid 80's wasn't a guy who was intimidated if you hit him back...Mike was also humble then even after he first won the belt...He would rate himself on 1-10 scales and give himself 4 or 5 all the time even when he won big...Once he left all the guy's who he started out with and hung with Holloway and them all of a sudden he became invincible...It was that attitude that ruined Tyson

Well Tate was addicted to CRACK...Douglas beat Tyson, his goal in the division was accomplished, he took the Holyfield fight to make money. Mercer got Hepititus C and he fought guys like Holyfield and Lennox Lewis during his prime....where were the big boys in Tyson's prime???
Tyson and Butterbean fought about the same level of competition
