Re: Cotto-Quintana: Picks
I am gonna go out on a limb here, I think Quintana has to toolkit to beat Cotto.
I really like Cotto, he definately has power, but as for the body shots, I think he
will use common sense and stay on the outside.
I honestly think that this fight's outcome will be based on one huge factor and IMO
that is whether or not Cotto can cut off the ring.
this will be a cracking fight though, I am saying 51% Quintana UD
49% Cotto late KO
Re: Cotto-Quintana: Picks
This is going to be a war. Cotto needs put the pressure early in the fight and look for those flash knock downs (will help on points if we go to the cards) This will also allow Cotto to take some rounds off. I don't know what Cotto's stamina will be like but I hope he is a work horse come Dec 2nd. Cutting off the ring is key for Cotto (needs to pound that body hard) Got to pound that body long and hard to set up those rope traps later in the fight. I don't know much about Quintana but I know he is game and a pretty slick fighter.
I am hoping that Cotto will not fail like Ricky Hatton failed moving up. If Cotto does not win, look for Cotto to move back down to 140 and face Ricky Hatton :)
If Cotto does win vs Quintana, this should be interesting and I guess Cotto vs Margarito will be in the works. Cotto has said before that he has been training long and hard for slick fighters and his main goal is PBF. I see this fight as a true test for Cotto. This is the ACID test.
GO COTTO GO!
If Cotto does win, I see PBF ducking not only Margarito but also Ducking Cotto too.
;D

Good points mate, I think even if Cotto doesn't have a spectacular showing he may want to consider moving back down.
The big dollars are in the Welters for a reason, the boys got the most skills (as a whole division). A Cotto-Hatton fight at 140 would be great.
As far as PBF ducking Cotto, I'm not so sure about that, I want to see how much power translates through to his extra weight.
Re: Cotto-Quintana: Picks
I'm really nervous about this fight and I think it could go either way but seeing as I have not yet witnessed Cotto at 147 so I don't know how his stamina, his power etc will translate,I would say the more experienced, highly skilled and very very under rated Quintana is favourite but about 60-40?
Cotto HAS HAS HAS to go back to the patient, boxer, stalker style which served him so well before the blips with Corley and Torres. He's with the big boys now,Quintana has power,he's no pitter patter type boxer,he won't run,but he's slick, like Collazo but with more power. It should be a great fight!
