Wlad has been under pressure since he started boxing...he went to a special school, he had to be the best or else he would be kicked out
He had always appeared tentative when it came to finishing. You just have to look to the Peter fight as evidence of that. When he had Peter
ready to go after an evil left-hook, Wlad just backed away and kept his distance not willing to go in for the kill. He even looked tentative when
he K.O.'d an over-the-hill Mercer.
In other words, he doesn't have the killer-instinct of a prime Tyson, Holyfield, or Frazier; all of whom where spectacular finishers when they had
someone in trouble.
I just don't agree here. Against Peter...yes maybe he was tentative...but who wouldn't be after taking that abuse.
He's just an accumulative finisher. Jab after jab & then the left hand. I think that being slow on the kill is a totally different thing.
Just my opinion.
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
VS Sam Peter he was in the 12th round with under a minute to go!!!! And he didn't NEED the KO...if he was down YES by all means he would have blasted him.
Wlad has the killer instinct but he's smart enough to know when someone is on the edge of getting KO'd or just a little hurt.
He sold out vs Brewster....did you like that result? Where he was so tired he could not lift his hands to protect himself!
Wladimir has 47 wins and 42 KO's ....it's bullshit to call him a tenative finisher!!!
Nothin but love for you but I gotta disagree with you dawg
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
If the ref would have let that fight continue, Brock could have gotten seriously hurt. Good stoppage.
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
I'm gonna find out how to put stuff on youtube and put that Wlad v Peter fight to refresh some memories, Especially Lyles.
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
I watched it SEVERAL TIMES on HBO, Bx.....but you're a diehard fan and not some fair weather chump like some of these people are so I'm giving you a cool click.
(in actuality a Wlad-Peter rematch could possibly be the most exciting fight that could be made, aside from Wlad-Briggs or Peter-Briggs)

Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
...and the rematch would be 10,000 times better if Sam captures a title!!!
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
If he would have hit Peter with another powerful punch after that left-hook he would have dropped him.
For the love of God...Toney even woke Peter up on a couple of occasions in their fight.
Nobody could put Wlad in the ranks of finishers like Tyson, Holyfield, Hearns, etc.
I think I understand what Wacko is saying in terms of cumulative effect. But that's different than a
powerful H.W. with a very keen killer-instinct.
Of course I'm not saying that Wlad isn't a good finisher, I'm merely pointing out that he is tentative.
Maybe the wording is offensive? O.K. How about a VERY thoughtful finisher? ???
In the end I think he has shown a lot of the promise that he had shown prior to his loss to Sanders.
Definitely the BEST (all around) H.W. in the division. And that's in a division who's stock is slowly starting
to rise again.
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
I'd rather see Wlad fight Toney...just to shut his ass up.
Then Briggs. I love Sam Peter...but I don't believe that he can beat Wlad. I know that Sam is limited...but he's REALLY limited when thrown in with someone that can take his power...
No need in a rematch with Wlad unless ofcourse it is over a strap.
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
Holyfield couldn't KO a 45 year old George Foreman!!!
Tyson fought a ton of chinny fighters too dude
When Wlad has someone hurt he likes to make sure they are 100% ready to go, so it's more of a consensual KO....he COULD go for broke all the time but that would make countering him a lot easier and the key for any fighter is to minimize their flaws and Wlad's style does that

Wlad vs. Toney? Hmm :o Why doesn't that come as much of a surprise, Wacko? LOL I think Tua vs. Toney would be a far more intriguing fight. Which diet-plan would actually prevail in the end? ??? ::**
I'm fed-up with Toney. I frankly admit that I have officially jumped off the Toney bandwagon ::** The mouth really never bothered me too much. In fact, I found it entertaining at times until it became tiresome because he couldn't produce with his hands.
It's just a matter of time before Peter wins a title and I think that a rematch would be a strong possibility. Hard hitting H.W.'s always put asses in the seats and plenty of P.P.V. buys.
I do agree, though. I don't think it's all that interesting of a match-up unless Peter is wearing a title around his waist; I'm just thinking that it's fairly inevitable.

Backatcha #864.... I like you man, you never give up....lol. Like I said b4, I was a big time Wlad fan and still like him to some extent but I, as a fighter myself can't find respect for what he's been doing lately. He's too good for that and should leave no questions unanswered.
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
Thanks bro
I just think as nervous as Brock was Wladimir had to take his time, had Brock come in either more calm or more active the fight wouldn't have lasted so long.
Wladimir is a relaxed fighter, which is odd for a power puncher. Just because he is relaxed doesn't mean he's not doing anything, he jabs, hooks off the jab, and he is always thinking and looking for openings....Brock was just so friggin nervous he would always have to step back and try to come at him again....very frustrating.
Wlad fights tall fighters pretty good, vs McCline he outjabbed and took his heart, he made him stop punching...the big guys are more afraid to get hit, I think and Wlad has a ton of pop on his punches, even his jab!
I've liked Wlad since I first saw him on an HBO fight....I think it was vs Shufford on B.A.D....his changing styles seems to me like the best of Wlad coupled with the best Manny Steward has to offer and that's a pretty damn good package right there!
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
Anytime a fighter falls face first, barely beats the count and then stumbles once up,that is a good stoppage. It would have been pointless to let it continue because Wlad is a GREAT finisher.
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
cc. Klitfan... The only thing questionable about this KO was whether Brock would even get up. Gotta give him props.
Re: Klitschko vs. Brock - Bad Stoppage by Kelly?
There is no questioning the stoppage. The way Brock went down I was surprised he got up!! Looked like he was out cold before he hit the canvas, props to Brock for even getting back up after that shot he took. The more I see of Wlad the more impressed I getting with him, although I still think there is an intangible that is missing with him. I think he is on his way as being remembered as the first real champion to rise after Lennox left. Not sure if that is going to be a good thing, time will tell.
