I don't get Hatton

on a side note: what if Oscar has only changed his mind about retiring because he has a hand shake with Hatton that if he beats Castillo he gets a shot? Do you think Hatton would turn down $10+ million to step in with Oscar? I doubt it!!

It would be replay of De la Hoya-Gatti. Except I don't think Hatton would last as long as Gatti did. Hatton and his groupies main excuse for the Collazo fight is that 147 was not the weight for him. Now you expect him to fight at 154? Cuz if this fight was to even be considered it would be at the 154 limit. Cuz Oscar would be calling the shots. Not Hatton. And Hatton would not be getting no 10 million. And Hatton would not be knocking Castillo out either. He be getting knocked out.

I believe Oscar would pay the money because it would make for an exciting fight as long as it lasted and in years to come Hattons name will pop up in the history books!! Hatton did end the career of a great boxer.

There are plenty of other exciting fights that Oscar could make with guys his own size who are bigger stars than Hatton (Winky, Shane if they decide to renege on their promise not to fight each other--even Spinks would sell more than a Hatton fight, Cotto if he continues to rise in weight class, for instance), that would be bigger events, and that would make more money. And I disagree with this. Hatton fought against a great boxer in that boxer's last fight. Tszyu was old, injured, inactive, and ready to retire already. Would he have fought on had he won? Probably. Would this fight have "ended his career" if he weren't old and injured to begin with? No.

Cory Spinks...there is no way Spinks has more fans than Hatton after a Castillo win unless the fight was in St Louis.

Miguel Cotto... well if he makes a splash at 147 and picks up Hattons old belt then I agree that would be a bigger event.

I never said Hatton "would go down as a great in the history books" I said "his name will pop up in the history books" and only because of his good fortune against Kostya. I agree that it was the timing and circumstances of the bout that got him the win.

It pains me to say this..

You may not believe Hatton ended Kostya's career but when someone retires after you make them quit on their stool you are entitled to say so and it will be written in black and white in the History books.

Floyd has great skill, there is no doubt about that and no one is saying he hasnt. But his "hit and run" style IS boring to watch. I would expect any American to speak in his favour though.

His hit & run style is effective & produces shut outs & knockouts.

It has nothing to do with any American's speaking in his favor. Don't single out a fan on his nationality...that is something that I long ago learned as a member of this forum...Ricky is as much dissing Floyd as one does the other.

Happens all the time in boxing. You know that...as well as we all do...it's normally referred to as a build up or publicity stunt...& it often works.

I wasn't predicting the outcome or even suggesting Hatton would last as long as Gatti ;)

As far as Castillo v Hatton goes I'm leaning towards Hatton but haven't put enough thought into it yet to be concrete i'll get back to you on that one 8)
