While Pac fought lots of good fights and has clearly become a superstar, Marquez chose the road to obcurity and THIS IS THE REASON that has pizzed this poor pacfan. He can't rely on that spectacular comeback forever, though remembered by many fans but being buried gradually by his subsequents lackluster fights. He's got to do something spectacular, he's got to get some attention, he needs a big publicity to push himself up in line to Pac - and remember, there are plenty of them already lining up with some trying to come in with self-promotion (and who's this kid who's trying to promote Joan Guzman on his thread and got everyone here pizzed off with his antics and geezy, I can't believe it, he's gotten himself 6 pages on the last count, that's genious, he got all of them fooled!) It's not that Pac don't want him, its simply just he's got nothing much to show now to sell the fight in the eyes of promoters. And fighting a kid like Jaka won't help much either.
At the time of Marquez downfall...he was poorly marketed...that's a fact...not an excuse...no sore feet or hurt hands...he was marketed poorly...hence the shit fights that were set up.
Now, in the hands of GBP, he lands the Harrison fight...that goes to hell...& once again...here we are.
Marquez wants the Pac rematch...but at the time...he retained his title for the draw & wanted the bigger money for the risk...again...the business of which we often speak.

Until then, his name can still belong with the 126/130 elite, and an impressive performance on saturday will go some way to getting him another title fight.
I'm not being a smart ass...but seriously...did you see that fight?
Marquez lost...if I remember correctly 2 points for low blows that were borderline. He landed one low blow & then every other body shot near the belt the Indo's & the ref squeled over.
I'm with you that he took John lightly...but I'm not in agreement with the loss.

being a pinoy, i hope jaca gets inspired by the pacman win, but imo he's just out of his league and will get tko'd in the mid rounds or even earlier.

I know your not being a smart ass, and yes I watched the fight and the low blows were questionable, if there were no deductions then on my card he'd have won by a round, so in that respect I guess he never lost, but JMM should have been a little smarter, he should have seen that the ref was calling em low and given him no excuse to deduct. Thats the nature of boxing away. Sometimes his boxing can be deemed as passive even though its beautiful and effective, it isn't the type that poor judges want to see. I hate it too wack, but you have to box to win, and that means adapting to the environment, if it means taking risks then you should. John performed well, and he knew what he should be doing to get the rounds. If the fight was in the US then I think it would have been a clear UD for JMM.

Agreed. Marquez should have taken it into account...but I suppose that sometimes...it's hard enough to concentrate on one man in the ring instead of two.
I also agree that you have to fight to win...either way...Marquez should have turned it up another gear & he'd be fine.

Mick...someone needs to have a word with you about the sunglasses indoors....it's not big or clever ;) Anyhow, i recognise DLH and Claude Abrams, who are the other two young chaps on the sig with you?
As for the prediction, JMM is going to be looking to make a big statement now that s**tfaced Scott Harrison is back in the ring, or will be in 2 weeks, because now that he won't get the belt by default, he'll be angling for a title fight ASAP in the new year. I reckon it'll be over within 5. JMM's got the pedigree to take him a part, just like a pure bred staffy bull terrier.

BTW I think JMM takes this one by KO, late, and jaca is stoped on his feet. I'll stick my neck out and say the 9th round.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Round: Marquez vs Jaca

:coolclick: as usual, the yin to my yang, and any input always welcome. I was a bit cut and dry in the first post, but sometimes I find it hard to like JMM, Mayweather or Mosley as talented and incredible as they are, because I like watching guys getting hit but still finding a way to win. It's like some people like tea, others prefer coffee. It doesn't mean i don't respect them all the same. Being a brit, I grew up watching my guys take leather, yet still loving them all the same, you get used to it! The fighters in the vein of Nigel Benn, Ricky Hatton, Roberto Duran, Miguel Cotto, Tony Margarito, Pac-man, they all don't mind taking a shot because they know the one they are dishing out will hurt the other guy more, they're who I love to watch most, and the ones I always tend to route for, with the a few exceptions, ODLH, Winky Wright, B-hop, Barrera and a load of others, but generally, growing up with the likes of Benn, McGuigan, Eubankl, Calzaghe and Hatton all on my screen and talked about by my family, they're the guys I like, and like to back and watch most.
