Re: gerald mcclellan vs jones jnr amature fight
Manny has said alot of things about alot of fighters... Example: Wladimir Klitschko would have given Lennox Lewis a tough fight. Or Baldomir will be the first real test for Floyd Mayweather. Or Floyd Mayweather isn't a boxer because he doesn't jab alot... has he seen pre welterweight PBF at all? Or Jermain Taylor is best combination of Strength and speed he ever taught yet Lennox Lewis was a far better athlete in terms of strength and speed p4p. Manny also said Roy couldn't box before. He's a great trainer, but seems to biased for his fighters, and seems be over-fond of certain of his pupils.
Re: gerald mcclellan vs jones jnr amature fight
Manny Steward is a great success as a trainer and a talent sout, but when he says these things, he's presumably promoting fights and working on his fighters' confidence. He's also, like most fighters and trainers, got a big ego and is a shameless self promoter. He takes the shine off fighters he doesn't train while bigging up the ones he does, all the time reminding us that he's a big part of the difference between winning and losing.
Of course Mclellan is going to destroy Jones in Steward's opinion. He continually describes his own fighters in superlatives- he is also on record as saying Naseem, Michael Moorer and even Graziano Roccegiani were 'the most talented fighter I've ever trained'
I'm not disrespecting his skills or character (he's a gentleman and modest in comparison to the Floyd Mayweather sr.)but he's not exactly an impartial judge.

so you dont think the G-MAN would of beat the sh!t out of jones if they had fought?
Re: gerald mcclellan vs jones jnr amature fight
G-man would't stand a chance. Steward thought That Vivian Harris would beat Floyd Mayweather.
