Re: something i dont understand about DLH vs Hopkins
Not sure about that...but in the end...Hopkins came in at 156 & that is a career record low for him...if I aint mistaken.
As far as the knockout goes...I buy the body shot...because Oscar has never lied down in his entire career...no way in hell he did it against Hopkins.
I could be wrong...but I just can't see it that way.

As for Hopkins, there was speculation that he came in extra-light because he was playing a sort of headgame. He wanted to come in weighing the same or less than DLH, because when he won he didn't want people to say he won simply because he was the bigger man, he wanted to be looked at as the better man.
I thought he looked pretty hefty at 154 against mayorga, his shoulders were quite heavily muscled, I think he was 164 in the ring that night if I remember correctly.

De La Hoya weighed 160 for the Sturm fight and looked overweight and pudgy. 155-156 was a natural, in-shape weight for him at that time.
Bernard only weighed 157 (or 1 pound more) when he fought Trinidad in '01. He weighed 158 at other times. Hopkins had plenty of fights where he came in well below 160.
The Hopkins-DLH fight was a legit 160 pound middleweight championship fight. There was no clause regarding a reduced weight limit.

Absolutly true...In the Sturm fight was the worst I ever seen DLH look physically...he had flab on him....I am sure for the hopkins fight he wanted to be in the best shape he could....I don't think it is that big of deal Hopkins did not come in at 160.....160 is the limit not what you have to weigh...
