Any doctors/dieticians in the house? I've always wondered if the fact that boxers spend so much of their lives starving themselves and keeping themselves below their ideal weight, if the years and years of doing that makes their bodies just soak up the pounds once they retire or have some inactivity and start eating like a normal human being.

I feel like I read recently that Pernell Whitaker blew up to over 200 pounds a couple years ago when he was still doing drugs, and that just blew my mind because he weighed 135-147 during his career and was a really small-boned guy. I never thought a guy of his body type could weigh 200+ even if he tried.

Me neither... I even tried too over christmas but I had to do something almost everyday... saying that these guys have been boxing for a greater % of their lives than me... must get sick of it after a while? :P

Hahaha that has to be just some random mexican because look at the gut on him. Hypothyroid? My mom has the same condition, 1 pill a day and your fine. No way should your weight fluctuate like that. That's ridiculous. I'm seriously in shock by looking at that.

Well he refuses surgery for the discs in his back until he retires maybe he is omitting his T-3 hormone pills also. Afraid someone is going to switch them out with stanozolol again.

That picture explains exactly what killed his career, horrible work ethic.

Saddo's right, it's not shocking at all, he always does this. This may be the most, but I've seen pics where I thought he'd NEVER come back to the sport, but he always did.

yeah he was 226 lbs back in 2004 ..I think he walking around at about 160 now days

When your in you early twenties.. all that weight just falls off, you eat what you want go to training camp and in 2 weeks your at weight no problem ! .. However once you get into your late twenties and early thirties. It aint so fcking easy, ..for instance I can just walk by a restaurant and gain 5 lbs. seriously.. the body turn on you , as you get older.. You eat the same shit you always ate only you do twice the work to lose half the weight… It’s a mutherfucker ! ! O0

Wow I can't belive thats him, I really think Fernando should give up boxing, he had all his success too soon and I think his body is telling him to stop. He should listen to it. A shame because El Feroz in his day was an incredible fighter.

For one thing, we are used to seeing them a certain way so it seems worse than it really is. If he was just a face in the crowd we wouldn't take a second look.
