I think the rule is in place for a reason.
Imagine in the third round your getting your a** kicked and see no hope of a win...
Oh oh!! i hurt my ,knee,groin,whatever and can't continue....oh gee its a no contest..what a shame...

P.S. if it wasn't the gayest boxing entrance....I'd hate to see the winner...probably had hector "macho" camacho in it!

Good point on the NC rule.Here is what is considered grounds for a no contest decision.
In the modern game, rules in the United States now dictate that any bout which ends prior to the completion of the 4th round, due to an accidental headbutt, is to be declared a no-contest. Prior to this, accidental headbutt stoppages, had been ruled a technical draw. Most other no-contests in boxing occur when unusual circumstances, which would include instances such as a bout being rained out, ring falling apart, or an
unexpected injury caused by something outside of the boxer's control.
Getting injured while throwing a punch is not grounds for a NC. "Unexpected injury outside the boxer's control" doesn't apply here. That would be if some fan charged into the ring and attacked a fighter, or the ring falling apart.
If you get injured while moving, punching, etc, than you lose the fight. Tough luck, but rules are the rules.
Pernell Whitaker's last fight ended when he hurt his shoulder throwing a punch and couldn't continue. It happens.
Thats a cheap way to win.
Kirk Johnson as injured in a similar way pulling away from a punch and Diaz stood on his foot and caused his knee to pop. And Diaz got the win. Are you telling me thats a fair result? They changed THAT to a NC they should change this one too

No they shouldn't.
It's different if a guy gets hurt because of contact with his opponent. For example, if there's an unintentional headbutt and one guy gets a bad cut. That is grounds for a NC.
McCline's knee popped on its own. Valuev didn't have anything to do with it. It's not Valuev's fault that McCline couldn't continue. If injuries like that resulted in a no contest, then like someone else said, everytime a guy is getting beat, he'll fake an injury to get a NC.
Is it "fair" that McCline gets a loss? I don't know, life isn't fair. He's a grown adult, he'll get over it. He still gets his paycheck.

On principle, this should not be excepatable in Boxing, in any country. This is not the WWF.
