He was not going to just lay down. He gave Castillo a fight. And in doing so, he allowed Castillo to get some much needed work in. Castillo wasn't 100% on his game last night. But he dug deep and pulled out the last couple of rounds. Showing that age is not a factor. More importantly was the fact that the body attack was there and that Castillo can go 12 rounds without huffing and puffing. People might think Castillo looked bad last night and that he's past his prime. They think Hatton will walk through him. Let them. This was a good fight for Castillo. Come June there will be no ring rust. Castillo will be 100% on his game. And will see how much Hatton likes them body shots.
Come on be honest VD, if Hatton had fought that kid and put on the exact same performance you would have said he was awful.
I don't think the fight has any bearings on Castillo's future at the weight however, it was just a mediocre performance. I thought he won most of the later rounds to deserve the victory but he certainly didn't impress me.
It wasn't the greatest performance by Castillo, I'll give you that. But keep in mind he's been out for over a year. And his previous fight before that didn't even last 4 rounds. Also unlike Urango, Ngoudjo wasn't made for Castillo. He wasn't slow as lava and didn't just stay in front of Castillo. He was also trying to make in impression. Under those circumstances, I reviewed the fight again. And after originally being disappointed in Castillo, I now look at it as something he needed. He'll benefit more from going 12 rounds than if he would of scored a 2nd round knock out.
alot of people said the same thing after Hatton - Callazo but strangly enough not you ;D
Anyhooo Witter impressed me out of the 2 but then im a witter fan ;)
but the improvments in Mathew Hatton was what impressed me the most last night he isnt gonna be a world beater and lives in the shadow of Ricky but hes deffo improving ;)

Hatton hadn't been out for a year when he faced Collazo. And Castillo didn't lose the fight or take the beating Hatton took against Collazo. And i think Witter looked decent. He could of put that guy away a lot sooner and really made an impression

Hatton hadn't fought in almost a yr also, and he had to acliment his body to 140 again, he came down from 185, you don't think that sapped his strength and stamina, stop hatin.
Re: Who impressed more last night?
Those who picked Hatton to steamroll Urango can't make excuses for his stamina imo. Because apparently it didn't matter enough at the time you made your predictions.
I haven't seen the Witter fight yet.

MAte, if you don't want to was 24 minutes of your life, fast forward to Round 9 and watch from the start of the round, as the early cagey stuff was dreadful, although Witter impressed once he attacked and pounced on Morua.

Not the biggest Hatton fan...but i agree the weight drop caught up to him in past the fifth. He came out with great energy...but he faded in the latter rounds and that is when he started to grab a whole lot.

Personally, I would rather sit through having another tooth taken out without any anaesthetic at all than watch Harrison-Guinn. I imagine it would be like having a white-hot guitar string shoved up my jap's eye and wiggled about for 12 rounds than watching that....but granted it is a close run thing.
Re: Who impressed more last night?
yeah I was waiting on ONE OF THEM to do something.
I loved Witters last fight against DeMarcus. at times it was hilarious.
The round where they stood still...it was like someone pressed pause ;D
I was laughing my head off and the camera switch was perfect ;D
