I don't understand some of you posters. In order for world titles to not be completely meaningless champions need to honour and respect them.
If a champion has a mandatory fight, then he should respect that and fight that fight.
Hatton can still fight Castillo in November.
Bilbo I disagree entirely with you here: How can anybody honour and respect an organisation that has these two ranked high enough to be their mandatory?
Hobson has a lot to answer for methinks... Ricky should have signed with Golden Boy and not this clown.
Collazo, Urango and Ndou or Rabah in 3 fights??
Yeah, Hobson is really bringing it...
Re: Hatton v Castillo is off says Hobson, Ricky to fight N'dou/Rabah winner!
I'm pissed with hatton. tired of all this BS that's hes doing this and doing that.
How many more of these fights do we have to put up with before he gets on his bike and does something.
If he can drop the belt to fight collazo then surely he can do it for what could be a carrer high earning against castillo that truly would see him in the elite if he won.
Now i know some little b**ch is going to say he had the welterweight belt to gain (forgot which one out of the 100's available) but he even said himself that he had no plans to stay there meaning he has to vacate his belt?
140 champion - vacates belts to fight for 147 belt - wins 147 belt - vacates 147 belt - fight for old 140 belt - wins 140 belt - Can make career high earning and more cred - doesn't want to vacate belt.
Disagree with me if you want but collazo has done something to hatton and he wants to just be like calzaghe and every fight for the rest of his career can be a tune up fight :/
Used to be a massive fan of this man but enoughs enough
Re: Hatton v Castillo is off says Hobson, Ricky to fight N'dou/Rabah winner!
I don't give a gotdam what anyone says...this is bullshit & no human on this planet can pull damage control on this one...it's just bullshit.
Hatton's team promised us Castillo as the next BIG fight, HBO promised us Castillo as the next BIG fight, & Hatton himself promised us Castillo as the next BIG fight.
Sorry folks...Hatton bailed on his other belt at welter after he chased Mayweather up to 147 & took a hiding from Collazo & now Urango busts him up a bit & they look for even weaker opposition.
That 147 belt meant nothing & now all the sudden obligations to a belt at 140 mean more to him now? Hatton just said that the Castillo fight was for the fans & it was the fight they all wanted to see...but now...Ricky wants to fight the N'dou/Rabah winner?
This is laughable bullshit. I'm disgusted. I was developing some respect for Hatton for fighting Castillo & then hopefully someone...anyone...now that he had come to America...but he's just gonna chump about.
Done with him...really. What's the point in gettin up on him if he aint gonna do what he says at ANY weight?

cool click mate
im one of hattons biggest fans but im disappointed with him if this true
i was reading in the paper today that castillo was after tickets to see Manchester United play. I thought " great hype for the fight"
hatton v castilo would sell if there was no belt on the line. im always of the assumption that fighters make belts and not the other way round.
look at pacquiao v barrera. no recognised belt on the line but the pacman win got him instant recognition
if hatton beats castillo he gets recognition no matter if any titles on the line or not
Re: Hatton v Castillo is off says Hobson, Ricky to fight N'dou/Rabah winner!
What a crock of shit, seriously it's like Frank Warren all over again making safe fights to cash in on. Can Rick refuse this at all without breaking contract obligations?
FUCK IT!!! >:mad
Re: Hatton v Castillo is off says Hobson, Ricky to fight N'dou/Rabah winner!
Now there's a good boy who does what's expected of him. Kudos.
He better fight the winner of N'dou/Rabah in Manchester just incase...you know... the :drunks: catches up with him. If Hatton loses to one of those two it's safe to say that he "cooked his goose."
And that way if he wins he can take all his mates (and a few people he doesn't even like) out for a salisbury steak dinner.

;D
MOST of us don't need shiny belts to tell us who the best fighters in the world are.
What fight would I rather see?
Hatton-Castillo
or
Hatton-Rabah/N'Dou
Hmmm thats a toughie ::**
Re: Hatton v Castillo is off says Hobson, Ricky to fight N'dou/Rabah winner!
To be fair, I wouldn't be too upset about this if I were Castillo. He didn't look like he was up for it during his last fight. Maybe Hatton and him both need another "gimmie" before they square off aginst one another.
Or maybe Castillo said "I'm not whipping the fat kids a** until I can get a belt out of it."
Re: Hatton v Castillo is off says Hobson, Ricky to fight N'dou/Rabah winner!
Does anybody not think this could potentially be a good idea?
I'm just a pissed off as everyone but i'm going to try and take the positives out of it......
If he fights castillo in Novemeber it could potentially be an even bigger fight because it will allow one more chance for Hatton and castillo to look good in tune up matches. Hatton will look great against Rabah or N'Dou and Castillo will have another chance to look great because let's face it, neither looked particularly exciting the other week. In fact folk on here were even saying they weren't right bothered about the fight anymore based on them performances.
Also remember that IF he does fight Castillo in November that will mean that in his last 6 fight he will have fought.....Tszyu, Collazo and Castillo. If Collazo beats Mosley next weekend people will realise what a good fighter Collazo is. Maussa, Urango and Ben Rabah/N'Dou aren't really bad tune up fights. Hopefully it will pan out this way and then i can be a bit more forgiving.
All 4 major overning bodies need to take a long hard look at their rankings too because regardless of what anybody says, i'm sure a title does mean quite a lot to a fighter. IT can be the deciding factor between being a well known fighter and a barely known fighter, to the casual boxing fan.
All that being said, if you break it down even further a few home truths spring to light.....
Maybe Hatton's team want castillo when he is on the slide. Maybe Hobson and co are trying to take warren's lead and get a world class fighter at the wrong end of his career. Maybe Kostya was on the slide???? Who knows. It's starting to look that way to me. Maybe Hatton doesn't really want the castillo fight and is hoping somebody beats him before November as was nearly the case last month with Ngoudjo. Surely if this is the case, Hatton needs Castillo now and not in November....as Castillo does look very beatable IMO.
I can't really make my mind up and i'm confused as to what to think about all this. It's disappointing from a nuetrals perspective and he's not exactly going to crack America the way he is going. To me it's starting to look like Hatton could have been a great fighter, but unfortunately missed his boat.
Re: Hatton v Castillo is off says Hobson, Ricky to fight N'dou/Rabah winner!
I think deep down that Hobson feels Ricky may well lose against some of the elite and is gonna rinse as much cash as he can out of him beforehand ;)
I don't believe for a second that Hatton himself fears these guys to be fair to him but he is being managed badly imo and i said long ago he should have gone the Golden Boy route.
He'd have been well looked after i reckon and if you wanna do well in the States then who better to join forces with than Oscars crew?
Im a big Hatton fan but can see why the majority of you are getting f*cked off with him.
And you've good reason.
We're the staunch fight fans on this planet and we deserve the big fights served up to us.
Don't really know what more to say to be honest and i feel angry i guess and let down.
Surely if he did a number on Castillo in his next fight he'd be first in line for a crack at Cotto or maybe even Floyd.
If you make the right moves and beat the top boys then you can literally force the very best (via public pressure) to fight you 8)

i agree with you in the fact that now is the time to fight castillo. surely its in hattons best interests to fight him sooner rather than later
Re: Hatton v Castillo is off says Hobson, Ricky to fight N'dou/Rabah winner!
After castillo his fights are at 147, so what us the point of making one more extra defense?
UN-FUCKING-BELIEVEABLE

You're right Smash i'm in same position as you. Feel let down in a way. Hope the Fight will be in UK tho, at least i could go to it. I still can't see how Cotto has risen above Hatton tho...Quintana is not as big a scalp as Tszyu or even Collazo. Hatton needs to look impressive again. BIG TIME

Why should the fighters honor and respect the belts? The commissions have no respect for the belts. If they did have respect, they wouldn't name #1 contenders based on which promoter pays them the most money under the table.
Belts stopped meaning anything years ago. The only belts/rankings that mean anything are the Ring ones.

Agree that Cotto is still (IMO) fairly untested and as Steelie keeps saying has yet to meet someone who's gonna put it on him.
I must reiterate that i really do not think Hatton is to blame in all this ;)
Never thought i'd see Hatton take the easy route out in the last 4/5 rounds like he did against Urango (Smothering/spoiling etc)
He fought to the bitter end against Collazo when he easily could have got his running shoes on ;)
That's the Ricky i wanna see and respect
