Duran was past his prime when he fought Hearns, but your point still stands.

Even if he wasn't the lightweigtterror that reigned supreme he still went on to take the junior middle title in outragous fashion from Davey Moore but also gave Marvellous Marvin a great 15 rounds

I think you are right DarkDestroyer. Hearns beat Duran when Roberto was the other champion at 154. But Duran has so many fans that people want to deny that he could be knocked out that way. But the fact is that he was the champion at 154 when Hearns fought him and he had just fought Hagler in a boring fight which did not take much out of Duran. Duran just met a guy who was fast and great. Duran then fought another 17 years competitively. So much for Duran being washed up at 32 when he fought Hearns, when he was fighting at 50 years old.

Trainer excellent point. That is what has lacked in the Delahoya,Tito, Mosley era. Meaness. Hearns,Hagler and Leonard and Duran had this mean way when they were fighting. Always was interesting. If you look on youtube and see how Hearns went after fighters like Shuler, guys just do not go for it like that anymore. Only Tyson goes after guys like Hearns and Hagler did, They had a mindset like we are gonna knock this guy out, and usually they did.
