Agreed. Chagaev isnt going to be the one to topple Valuev. Valuev should be having a unification bout before too long, he cannot keep fighting these opponents who really havent quite got the ability to rise to the occasion...
The little imp in me wants Toney to have a crack at Valuev, he doesnt merit a shot whatsoever though! :-\
Re: Valuev - Chagaev April 14th Berlin
i think as soon as he as a unification fight he loses

If its against Wlad, you are right on the money. But Briggs and Maskaev?? They wouldnt beat him, no.

To be honest with you, I reckon Chagaev would have a better chance of winning if he went straight for either Briggs or Maskaev, rather than fighting the Russian Giant.
Re: Valuev - Chagaev April 14th Berlin
If he gets past Chagaev he's 48-0 people!!!
Personally I don't think his 49 th fight will be against anything other than a tomato can, and a dented shop reject one at that.
You know Don King will be moving heaven hell and earth to make him beat Marciano's record. :-X

I would just like to point out that as that mentioned tomato can, I am offended at suggestions of dents. Indeed, I will be going into this bout with a pro record of 0-0, so another undefeated opponent for Valuev. Indeed, I am also working on my eating, to try an break the record for the heaviest ever fight for a title!
Re: Valuev - Chagaev April 14th Berlin
I just thought when Jameel was taking the fight to him he did'nt look to comfortable i think any of the other 3 champs beat him

Its bollocks though because Marciano was a complete champion in that the division was not a fractured mess then. Valuev has a belt and has fought nobody.

Rocky is W49 L0 D0 but Valuev does have a no contest on his record

Valuev should not be held in the same esteem as Marciano by anybody. Anybody that looks at the numbers and makes comparisons is truly an idiot. Marciano was THE undefeated heavyweight champ of the world, not one of the corrupt alphabet cutups of what should be an undefeated heavyweight champ of the world...

Totally agree ;)
Re: Valuev - Chagaev April 14th Berlin
The record states Valuev has to RETIRE UNBEATEN nearly making it to 49-0-0 doesn't matter, it's retiring undefeated with a 49-0-0 record or better that matters

I agree completely! Valuev should not be compared to Marciano. The old time fighters for the most part were part time plugs. guys who had no real training ,amateur background or full time commitment.
Most were part time club fighters who held down day jobs. Of course the overall skill level was maybe 20% of Pro fighters today. AND most heavyweights were 6' maybe 190 compared to 6'5" 250 lbs today of lean conditioned skillfull muscle.
Lennox Lewis would take ever top heavyweight from 1930 to 1960 and beat all ten of then on the same night.
Never mind what Valuev would do to them.
Take a look at this graph its Olympic high jump world records...takes skill speed training technique sort of like Boxing? huh?
Please note that the QUALIFYING height required for the 2004 Olympics games was 2.3 meters.
You had to have hit 2.30 meters in a sanctioned qualifying event to be allowed to attend the Olympics.
Prior to 1955 the world record was 2.10 meters. Not even the best high jumper in the world PRIOR to 1980 would even QUALIFY to compete in 2004, never mind 2008 never mind against a physical anomaly like
NICOLAI VALUEV. Old vs new......forget about it!
