Exactly . Barrera doesnt deserve to be treated like this . He kept getting hit low but Jay did nothing . 1st time Barrera infringed the rules , he gets a point off .
When Pac floored Jmm the 3rd time when he was holding onto the ropes , why wasnt he docked a point or do they only like ruining legends like Marco
just watched barrera vs marquez and..
very close fight alot of close rounds i had it even draw what were judges looking at i know what you guys are on about now bloody stupid judges id say barrera deserves rematch but great fight really enjoyed it overall and i think draw would of been fair
and if barrera would of been credited with knockdown i would of gave fight to him
and i think they should use instant replays in boxing to determine if it is knockdown or not i think it would be better for sport

:coolclick:, Ive said it before that the 7th round was the key to the fight. I had Barrera up by 1 point but realise another person could easily score it a draw or even a point or 2 in favour of Marquez. It just depends on how you are scoring the fight. That knockdown should have been a point. If Barrera hadnt of used the uppercut on Marquez who was down then that is another point.
That 7th round was awesome, but very controversial IMO....

:coolclick: back it seemed to me without sounding biased is that he knocked down marquez and ref didnt say anything or ect so he hit him again to try and make sure it was knockdown so ref would credit barrera with it im not saying what barrera done was right but thats impression i got anyway

Nady was way too slow to do anything!! I swear that I watched that incident in slow motion, Barrera seemed to wait an age before going in with that uppercut.

It was a very odd situation. It seemed like a knockdown on first impressions and Barrera did seem to hold back while Marquez went down. Ive said this on another thread but it seemed to me like it was all in slow motion while I was watching it, Nady didnt seem to appear for an age and thats when Barrera leaned over and swang that uppercut....

agreed totally i think when barrera floored marquez he was like huh ref hasnt said anything or credited me with knockdown so he prolly tried and made sure of it but it ended up costing him but what really annoys me is that even if barrera would of been credited with knockdown which he should of judges would of still had marquez winning comfortably and thats totally wrong imo

Nady, who I think is a fairly good ref, was right in position to see that crushing right hand that sent Marquez down to the canvas. What the hell was he daydreaming? Marquez had the entire round in the bag up until that punch, which I don't think he ever seen coming. Those are the ones that will always get you.

It is wrong and it is inexcusable. One of my initial thoughts after the fight was that this was the end of boxing for me. To hear those scorecards and those margins when that was clearly what did not happen at all really upset me. I grimaced when I heard the scorecard of 118-109. I didnt even know who that was for but it wasnt for either Marquez or Barrera! The other 2 cards were better but still way out!
I seriously thought "No more boxing for me". I sat for about 5 minutes utterly drained. Im just a fan. Think about Barrera, a guy that has given his life to this sport and entertained so many. I dont blame him for saying he will just make a decision after a vacation with his wife and family. He was treated harshly.
Of course, Ive had time to calm down. I love boxing, I really do. But these kinds of judges are wrong and should be made accountable for their actions. I would dearly love to know how and why they scored that fight as they did! 118-109.....that fight didnt happen for ANY boxing fan watching this fight!! :-\

I know exactly what you're saying, Miles. Both me and my friend and his wife said that we were done with boxing after that disgrace of a decision. I'm shocked to get up this morning and find not one article calling the judges and Nady into question, doing some research on the 'judges' qualifications, and researching their affiliations.
The saying that a picture speaks a thousand words is sometimes misleading. But in this case, and I should openly admit that MAB is my all time favorite fighter, I think a picture captures the bizarre nature of the decision and scoring.

Indeed. Look at those photos. Marquez looks a mess! Barrera merely looks sad about the decision.

Yup .
Barreras unmarked . JMM luks like hes been hit by a truck
Barrera knocked down Marquez . JMM couldnt floor him
Barrera threw AND landed more punches
yet the judges ive it to Marquez by landslide . Whats going on in this game and what an insult to one of its greatest . If Barrera says f*k off to this sport now out of protest i'll support him dat decison . Lets all watch UFC instead !

Re: The 7th round "knockdown"
I was sooo spissed tooo I mean surely if Lederman can have the fight scored that way for MAB then why are peiplo making it a big a** issue with the way the judges scored it? - CutMeMick
Exactly. All the Barrera fans are bitter because they were high on Lederman's score card. They were as happy as we were pisssed. If it turned out to be accurate all would be well with them this morning. Just like all is well with Marquez fans right now.
Barrera lost and I am happy for it.
