Re: Low blows, what's your definition?
Its always gonna depend on the positioning of a fighters trunks. But more times than not a shot landed flush on the trunk line is good for me....
Unless the runks are worn RJJ style....

A shot there would probably feel more like a punch in the nuts ;)

thats fight where Bowe was down twice Golota down once and was giving Bowe one sided beating after 4th round and it was stopped when Golota done 3 punch combo on Bowes nuts
I remember that combo. But it was obvious before then Bowe didn't want to be there and Golota gave him an out. Bowe rolled on the floor just enough to let the ref know he was in pain. Not to say the punches didn't hurt, I'm sure they did, but Bowe played it up. And the second bout was just a repeat of the first except for the near riot.
Re: Low blows, what's your definition?
Just like there are rules for other things, there should be rules for where you wear your trunks. If you wear your trunks up around your chest, not only do you look ridiculous, but you also make it very hard to judge a low blow.
Re: Low blows, what's your definition?
YOu just remind me the worst Referee in boxing worst than Nady.

"Biased ref call who didn't notice any low blow Cotto was throwing that night."
And so...
I am sitting here watching this fight in which Majesty says that Cotto was landing low blows to Corley. Before I post the video, I would like to know what you folks say is a low blow. What is a questionable low blow. What is acceptable and what is not? Where is the waistline according to you?
What is the purpose of the waistline rule?
I dont care if you show me a web definition, a photo, a clip, your own personal description, what ever.
I will post the video once I am done. The video will be posted right here in this thread. I will just edit this post and paste the video here on top. The video consists of every body shot Cotto threw that night. I do mean every body shot and some extra fight footage cus it's only 5 rounds there is not much to show. Roughly a 9 minute clip.
I am interested in seeing how many people agree or disagree. It's not the first time several people watch a fight and come up with different conclusions. I am sure this test will be no different.
Peace.
A punch to the nutz

LOW BLOW : SEE HOLYFIELD AND GALOTAS FIGHTS ANY OFF THEM :)
Re: Low blows, what's your definition?
The Ref knows the low blow area...the trunks aren't an issue b/c if they are to high, the ref will make his corner pull them down.People often see fighters with long trunks and think that they are too high.I'm no a ref but I do believe that those were ow blows.Oh...and for the guy who said it looked ridiculous...what are you 80yrs old?

Nady is terrible. In the Barrera/ Marquez fight, he calls a 100% knockdown, a slip and then has the nerve to take a point off Barrerra for a late hit, even though dumbass scored it a slip. If Nady jumped between the fighters when he should have, there would have been no borderline late hit by barrerra. I love both Barrera and Marquez fighting abilities, but i also love good reffing and good judging. It was a close fight, but Barrerra could have won if Nady hadn't blown the knockdown and late hit call.

Well I believe a low blow is specifically anything below the waist line...everytime I have a 4 round exhibition sparring match the Ref will come to both corners and inspect our equipment and he always gives me a cup check and put his hand in my waistband and pushes down on my foul protector...I've ask the Ref why he does that? he said it is because he wants to see my belly button, also he said if I can't push your cup down then it's too high and I establish the lowblow line with my hand in the middle of the ring when you touch gloves so the Coaches and Judges know what punch is a low blow.
