As for who he could have fought and didn't well, I'll leave that up for the UK people they seem to think RJJ ducked their champs....
They gotta remember though boxing is a 2 way street, theres 2 parties involved and the people in the UK just make it seem like it was ALL RJJ who did not wan't to fight them....
Fair comments as usual. To be honest its a Jones: Hopkins rematch that I would have wished have happened more than any other fight. If he could have beaten Hopkins convincingly then thats judgement over for me as to his entire credentials!! ;)

Lets have this right 8)
After seeing G man in a coma he simply refused to fight ANYONE who would give him an all out war.
He even stated himself that he would only extend himself in a fight if absolutely neccesary.
That seriously affected his mind seeing his mate so f*cked and you can't blame him for that as they were thick as theives those two.
I'm not slating him skillwise because he was the sh*t but his a**hole dropped out of his shorts after seeing his mate in that state.

agreed but who else at that time would of gave Jones all out war except Benn because Eubank wouldn't of and Steve Collins wern't quite top man in Uk yet because he still had to beat Benn so who else ??

Haters?
I call them True fight fans and im a Big critic of RJJ.
Undeniable skill levels and uniquely talented fighter but the facts are he ducked the best about at a critical time in his career mainly because of what happened to his mate the G-Man.
Who's to say he would have won or lost to the likes of Collins,Benn Eubank and even Calzaghe (if you believe Warren) but the fact is he didn't wanna know and that imo is not the actions of a true Champ.
I'm begining to feel this way about Calzaghe and the lack of interest for his fight in just a few weeks is testiment to that fact.
This place was Buzzing about Joe leading up to the Lacy and even the Bika fight and now he goes for Mangeydo he's rapidly losing face.
You can't cheat the public at the end of the day and still want 100% respect as it simply don't work like that. 8)
Nigel Benn would of got beaten one sided because after Gerald fight he had nothing left and mate Roy Jones would of beat Eubank quite comfortably i dont see why Jones would duck any of them was it because he would have to come over there to fight ?? when he is p4p number 1 ?? i wouldn't either
:coolclick: Ice Well put and to say anything negative or rub shite on Jones's wins over Hopkins and Toney is ridiculous he beat 2 Hall Of Famers period!!!
Roy didnt need to travel to the UK to face those guys, would have been nice but then again I dont think Nigel or Chris were spotted in good Ol' Pensacola kicking Roys door down for a fight...
I dont know this and maybe one of you fine Brits could tell me this, but if Warren was Promoting Eubank and Benn, then its no suprise if there was alot of noise being made but nothing materializing...

Lotta people say Nigel Been and Chris Eubank although I read somewhere Chris said he made sure he would never fight Jones because it could have ruined him as fighter.
But I do have a question for you people who say that, of your three(nigel been, chris eubank, steve collins) why did not any one of them fight James Toney who was champ at their time while Roy was a middleweight ???

Montell Griffin is not really a great fighter and neither is Woods. Jones was awesome in his middleweight/supermiddleweight days (when he did face good opposition) and I give him all the props in the world for beating Ruiz for a heavyweight title fraction. I have always liked Roy Jones Jr, but he has fought more bums, gas station attendents and garbagemen than any other hall of fame fighter ever has, man. He ran his career in a safe and businesslike way; getting paid for doing the least amount of work. He could have fought Tarver earlier in his career and maybe even closed the book on him so he never had to rematch him. He could have fought Darius Michaelzewski or traveled to Wales to fight Calzaghe years ago. He could have given Toney a rematch at light heavy or Hopkins a rematch at super middle. He had all kinds of options but chose to take the easier fights and too many times, put more effort into his ring entrances/rap performances than he did into fighting worthy opposition. I love RJJ but it's true. You can't make a mark knocking out a garbage man, even if you fight him with your hands behind your back.

right i like you but i disagree on some parts here ill put it in bold
Montell Griffin was great at that time i mean he beat James Toney twice thats some achievement
why would p4p number 1 fighter travel to wales ?? thats big no no in my book if Calzaghe wants title of being p4p number 1 and beating great champion like Jones he has to come to him
i don't see why he would have to give Toney a rematch he already shut him out virtually winning almost every round
as i say again
James Toney Reggie Johnson Bernard Hopkins Clinton Woods Virgil Hill Montell Griffin
thats pretty great list of fighters to beat
in last say 15 years who has beaten better opposition than Roy Jones ??
i don't think your find many

You're right he could have fought Tarver sooner but thats TARVER'S fault.
Tarver fought Eric Harding for the spot to fight Roy Jones Jr and Tarver got beat and Harding broke his jaw so Harding got the shot against Roy Jones. So it's Tarver's fault Roy didn't fight him sooner, not Roy's, wouldn't Roy have been critisized for fighting the loser rather then the winner?
He woulf have fought James Toney again at Light Heavyweight but James lost twice to Montell Griffin. So Roy fought Montell Griffin. And again, wouldn't Roy have been critisized for fighting the loser and not the winner?
And wasnt Daruisz Michelshwvski beaten by Julio Gonzales who Roy Jones dismantled easily?
So how are you gonna take credit from Roy like that?

Re: Why Do People Always Criticize Roy Jones Record
As Jones is often quoted as saying - He didnt fight nobodies, he just made them look like nobodies.
Although I do agree it would of been good to see him in with some of our Brits, especially Benn or Eubank but can never be sure who was dodging who there.
