I don't think Red Bull falls under the 'electrolyte' drink.
Due to the ingridients it contains.

about time to with the drinks, it'll have more of an effect for the those cutting weight, I do wonder how it will be regulated. Ross is right about using diolyte or whatever it's called. I've also heard diluting orange juice and adding a pinch of salt to a drink if you're stuck.

In all honesty all of that stuff should be Promoter provided, and official checked
Hell they check your wraps, they check your gloves, why not check the rest of your equipment.
Its not like Gatorade goes bad in a week.Test it,or provide it,and give it to the trainers at ringside
Re: Texas boxing authorities approve use of electrolyte drinks during title fights
This is a good thing. just like the water it needs to be factory sealed before use in a match.

Chris Eubank used to drink orange juice with warm water and a pinch of salt after working out
Any sports drink is not an electrolyt solutuion
A genuine solution comes in the form of diahorea powder, it is made to replace lost electrolytes and works out cheaper and alot more effective than a sports drink, they come in sealed foil packages and you just mix with water.
Also the bottled oxygen is a good idea

Correction, lipovitan or red bull. lipovitan was stronger before. I don't know if it's still better than red bull. hehehe. I used lipovitan for 4 months during my board exams and it was not actually good. It saps you of energy later on.
I'd still go for plain water. no side effects. don't know if this applies to boxing.
Re: Texas boxing authorities approve use of electrolyte drinks during title fights
2 things..
1. The commission overseeing the bout should be the ones giving the drinks out immediately before the fight so there is no chance of tampering.
2. Tampering is one thing, what about the sticky gloves issue? That's the main concern imo, because if that stuff gets on gloves that is going to cause cuts. I've used gatorade a lot from everything from just going to the gym to football and the stuff is like pine tar. It gets sticky and I'm sure it's abrasive.

Tampering is my major concern but your second point is a good one too, I never really thought about that. Maybe it is just a bad idea overall?

so u mean to tell me when the football coaches get dunked in gatorade after winning they are rather sticky all over? ;D
Re: Texas boxing authorities approve use of electrolyte drinks during title fights
We'll just have to see how this plays out. there's an upside and downside to every change that could be made to boxing.

Very good point you make, when gatorade dries out that shit! is sticky... And IMO it will cause an effect on punches landed....
Wow!! Wonder if they thought about this? ???

i think they'd just give them the stuff to drink. I don't think they'd be showering them with the stuff like that do with water (have separate water supplies for cooling off purposes ??? ) if they did that the ring would get sticky too.
