I thought that I was the only one who saw this.Floyd creates angles, switches his game plan, has great timing, and is hard to predict. One minute he sits and counters...the other minute he is throwing lead right hands. Its not just finding a sparring partner to match Floyds speed.I havent seen much of DLH and Mosleys sparring so I dont know if he is doing a good job...but I heard that Kendal Holt use to be one of Floyds sparring partners and he matched him pretty good.
cc good analysis .... i love the guys on this forum (no homo) that clear up wat i say and elaborate on it makes me seem smart 8)
Re: Just curious...Oscar vs Mayweather...does Mosley fit the bill as a fill in?
he is definitely the best sparring partner for de la hoya

Mosley can use angles but his style and Floyd's style couldn't be further apart.
If anything, Mosley can match or get close to the speed of Mayweather. But in terms of knee jerk reflexes and offense and defense combined as one, I don't tink you could find a sparring partner on earth to prepare you for that.
Mosley definitely fits the bill!
I'd bet my left nut Mosley is throwing faster now than what Floyd will May 5th. This is just sparring so Shane will do as he is told, he won't go into sparring sessions imitating himself ::**
If he is asked to run for 3 minutes with a high guard throwing fast straight right hands from as many differant angles as he can then you can guess its not going to look like the Shane we are used to seeing in the ring eh?
Everyone seems to be forgeting the scenario that just maybe Mosley could spark Floyd at 147!! If thats the case then that puts a whole new perspective on it. ;)

There's no one as close to Floyd speed wise as Shane but there is still a noticeable disparity. It's good training for Oscar but it's not like the real thing.
Ivan Calderon however, that's ingenious selection of sparring partner by Oscar. The guy is super skilled, tiny and quick! A very very impressive fighter, you'd like him Wack,a pure boxer.
Totally agree on Calderon....Good fighter and great choice of sparring partner to get ready for Mayweather
Re: Just curious...Oscar vs Mayweather...does Mosley fit the bill as a fill in?
It's impossible to get the same fighter who fights like floyd that's why he is unique. however, mosely will be a good sparring partner not because he can mimic floyd seamlessly, but because he is the closest to mayweather "speed wise", remember that he isn't hitting oscar with powershots in their sparring sessions, so without so much power in the delivery of his punches in his mind, he can crank up more speed with every punches. The rest will be up to oscar since the reflex and impeccable timing setup punches of mayweather is impossible to mimic.

I have full faith that Sugar Shane would beat Mayweather at 147. That is wat makes this fight so special. De La Hoya has a more competitive sparring partner than his opponent in my opinion. Shane is beatable at the higher wieghts. At 147 I don't think he is. And I don't think Mayweather would fight him for that reason.

Agreed ;)
Mosley or De La Hoya would of made an absolute mess of Baldomir and brutally finished off Judah ala Kostya.
Re: Just curious...Oscar vs Mayweather...does Mosley fit the bill as a fill in?
Mosley is the perfect man for the job of helping DLH, Mayweather will use all of his extraordinary defensive skills against DLH and he will need to as i think the strength of DLH will ultimately give him the decision. I just don't see Floyd landing enough big shots to slow DLH down. Mosley is strong and fast and yes he is a little robotic, however he will give DLH all the preparation he needs for this fight. Mayweather might not get tagged at all by DLH during this fight but will he build up points and win by fighting defensively throughout.
At some point he is going to have to mix it and DLH won't mind that.

Tell that to Vernon Forrest. :)

I was ringside for that one...Oscar won. Sorry but he did.
he doesn't think so ;)
Come the fwock on Sugar Puss.
He was robbed. Oscar won the fight.
Mosley knew he lost. It was all over his face. Anyone that saw the look on his face knew that he lost that fight...just like he did.
Mosley was as shocked as Oscar was.
It was bullshit.

The past is past. Vernon Forrest had to rob Ike Quartey to get a decision his way now.

Ok... but if prime Shane Mosley could get beaten decisively at 147, then you better believe 35 year old Shane Mosley can lose at 147. Floyd picks him apart.

Shane and Floyd do have much different styles though. Floyd has always used his speed to execute a prefect defensive scheme, whereas Shane has used his speed to dive in and throw combos.
Floyd is more Pernell Whitaker, whereas Shane was always more Meldrick Taylor.
Nice, couldn't have said it better myself! :D
