I honestly don't feel we can afford to take them on as a state. We have enough national debt as is...

There are alot of poor families over there who are all going to be eliagble for welfare at the same time. It is a huge finanical burden on the United States if they become a state.
And you also have a lot of democratic votes which is something we don't need...
