I am very close friends with Teke and he is the most down to earth fun loving guy you ever want to meet.. I took him to spar with Wlad Klitschko for his fightwith Charles Shufford a few years ago, he only did about 2 rounds and was way over his head.. He is not as comfortable with Sparring and even fighting as i would like , he loves boxing but is not as comitted as he could be.. Kevin Barry (of David Tua fame) trains him and he seems to be pushing him to his limits.. He is a chunky build and if left to his own devices would box at 280 pounds. 235 is optimum but he needs to be pushed constantly. He had a bad experience last year in sparring, he was knocked out cold by Samuel Peter in sparring and it made him horrendously gunshy.. I hope he can find his way but i truthfully wish he would overcome his fears and start to box even at lower class of opponent.. Teke is a class act and he deserves happiness but if he doesn't clean up his act fast i fear the impatient Goosens may cut him loose. God bless.
Re: Who is the best young Heavyweight prospect?
Yeah that's how I saw him, someone from Goosen-Tutor had a video of him on his computer and he was seated next to me. He told me a bit about him and then I watched the fight. Oruh had just taken a fight on Shobox I believe and he really had high hopes for him, nothing to lead me to believe they were waiting for him. Thanks for that and for being objective. Have your 3rd CC.

How about Chambers vs. Chris Byrd? Here's a second list of less-experienced prospects. Alot of these guys are untested, and most of them I haven't even seen... Any feedback would be cool. Who are the future contenders from this pack?
Michael Marrone 18-0 (13)
Teki Oruh 13-0-1 (5)
Devin Vargas 11-0 (5)
Joey Abell 14-1 (14)
Bermane Stiverne 14-0 (14)
Oleg Platov 25-1 (21)
Mariusz Wach 12-0 (5)
Rene Dettweiler 20-1 (10)
Alex Mazikin 10-1 (2)
Donnell Holmes 26-0-2 (23)
I suspect that Abell is somewhat of a novice. Vargas has skills, though I'm gonna say Wach and Mazikin would meet in the finals of a tournament between these guys.
If I could fight like Micahel Marone, I wouldn't.

Hahaha and isn't he trained by Angelo Dundee? I could be mistaken but I believe so. Or maybe he had prior training with him. Or maybe I'm completely off my block either way it's amazing one of these jobbers hasn't KO'd him imo.
Re: Who is the best young Heavyweight prospect?
Marone is a disaster waiting to happen. Dundee or no Dundee. Estrada, well, I guess I disagree. I've counted him out.
Chris "The Nipple" Arreola. Crazy Name. Very Ugly. Also a pretty good fighter with some real potential. I've only seen him once or twice, but I was impressed. Witherspoon lookes good, too.
I can't comment on the others. To me, Chambers has moved beyond the "Prospect" label. Right now hes a borderline contender, and if he wins tonight, he'll move right to contender status.

tRAINED BY lOU dUVA WHO COULD PROBABLY BEAT HIM.
Re: Who is the best young Heavyweight prospect?
Thought this would be good to post here since we were actually talking about them specifically. :)
WBO ranked#13 and IBF ranked #12 heavyweight Eddie Chambers moved to 28-0 (16 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over former contender Dominick Guinn on Friday night at the Palm Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The unbeaten Chambers' quickness was the difference as he outworked Guinn to get the victory, Chambers successfully defended his USBA title.
Undefeated heavyweight Cristobal Arreola moved to 20-0 (18 KOs) scored an explosive eighth round knockout over late sub Malcolm Tann. It was crowd-pleasing as both fighters were happy to exchange punches, but Arreola's aggressiveness broke Tann down and Arreloa finally blasted him through the ropes in the eighth rd.
Unbeaten heavyweight Malik Scott moved to 28-0 (10 KOs) with a unanimous decision over Charles Shufford.
Re: Who is the best young Heavyweight prospect?
I was really hoping to see the Arreola/ Vargas fight would have told us a lot about each guy.
Atleast Arreola is entertaining!
Re: Who is the best young Heavyweight prospect?
There were talks of Chamber Vs. Arreola, but I doubt that will happen because they both are Goosen fighters?
Re: Who is the best young Heavyweight prospect?
Suppose you could class David Haye as a heayweight prospect? Once he's up there with cruiser weight restraints off he'll be a hand full.

Too bad. "Nipples" (ugh) is made to order for Fast Eddie. Brutal counters would cut him to ribbons. If Tan could connect, imagine what Chambers wourl do with double hooks and following straight rights. Slaughter City!
Re: Who is the best young Heavyweight prospect?
Chaz has no power. Pity. He is a decent boxer.

You are probably right on that. Chambers is 10x as fast and he would counter Chris all day, but Nipples work rate and bodywork might make it a pretty tough fight for Chambers. Time after time last night, I saw Guinn start to mount an offensive. He would get Chambers on the ropes, throw one good combo, then stop. I would be interested in this fight to see what Chamber can do against a pressure fighter.
Still, Arreola isn't that big a puncher, and Chambers seems to take punches pretty well. It might be a good fight to see.
Re: Who is the best young Heavyweight prospect?
i heard about boytsov and there's been a lot of hype about him (despite his soft resume of jobbers)
