What proof do I have? How about Floyd not only avoiding the fight with Antonio, but firing his promoter afterwards. As for Margarito not fighting anyone, he's routinely been ducked by de la hoya and others like him. The champion of the future is the only one willing to fight him, and he'll probably beat him. Paul Williams is going to be the man. Floyd will avoid this fight as well.

He still would have the fight with De La Hoya no matter which person he fought before. He simply chose Baldomir because he knew he would be an easy win. I don't know if I've ever seen someone run faster from a fight than Mayweather did from Margarito. Not only did he not take the $8 mil. payday (which would have been the highest in his career before de la hoya), but he also fired his promoter, someone he said was the best promoter in boxing. There's only one explanation. Floyd knew he would get his a** handed to him. That's why most so called fearless boxers run from Margarito...including De La Hoya. Floyd is the 3rd best welterweight in the sport. The top two welterweight boxers will meet when Paul Williams squares off against Antonio Margarito. Both of these boxers can beat Mayweather to a pulp. The shame of it is that we'll never see it. Floyd will bitch up every single time one of these boxers wants to fight him. If Floyd manages to fight one of these boxers, I'll bet my house on the other guy. Now, if Floyd comes out and says that he wants the winner of Williams vs. Margarito, he'll regain my respect for even daring to step in the ring with them. But he's running...oh excuse me...retiring before the public pressure mounts anymore.
Well he beat Oscar ???
Re: Mayweather isn't the best...and never will be
I dont like FM,never have,never will.
But he is 1 hell of a boxer to beat a bigger man like ODLH a few divisions above his best fighting weight.
Before the big fight I had doubt about FM but he is now the P4P king imo.
Re: Mayweather isn't the best...and never will be
Baldomir was the recognised champ ..And floyd likes them pretty wbc titles..
In all fairness..Margarito vs floyd would have been just as boring and one sided as the baldo fight..
Only difference was that baldo was gunning evntually for one last hurrah..
Margarito still has two or three big pay days imo with the likes of willaims , cotto etc..
If floyd took out tony..He would have lost more then 8 mil in all likely hood.. He oughta thank his stars that he never got the fight.. He hasnt done anything to deserve it anyway.

Im usually quite reserved but postings like this bother me and they bother me moreso lately. Mayweather won a decent fight against the best 154 pounds had to offer. And yet we have all these loony types randomly espousing why Mayweather can never be the best because he is ducking Margarito? Oh please....piss right off!! ::**
It isnt even clear if Margarito is the best in his own division! :-\

How is this proof? Show me an article that says Mayweather turned down $8m. Williams will prob beat him. I look forward to it.
Re: Mayweather isn't the best...and never will be

To be honest, it comes across like I'm dissing him, but it's more his supporters that piss me off. How can anyone say he deserves a fight with P4P best Floyd without actually beating a name? If he achieves something, then all the praise to him but I see him losing to Williams and I definately see him losing to Cotto. I refuse to give the guy any credit until he actualy does something to impress.

I kind of agree with you, except the deserving a fight thing. Who deserves any fights? If you go through all the top guys records you will find more people who never beat a name that didn't deserve the fight. Why did they get it? Cause you have to fight somebody. It's really crappy that boxing does this, if a fighter is somewhat dangerous and may pose a threat to an undefeated record, then they must "earn" their right for a fight. But if the fighter needs a fight, they can fight an unknown they will almost certainly beat and there is no mention of "earning" the fight. It's a crappy way to do business.
I like fighters that will fight whoever. Fight the guy cause he's talking trash and your tired of hearing it. Fight a guy cause a hand full of people think he's better than you. Fight him cause you are a fighter and that's what you do for a living.
Re: Mayweather isn't the best...and never will be
Click on the link in this paragraph. It is a summary of Floyd Mayweather's fighting career. The 3rd paragraph in the welterweight section spells it out in black and white my friend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floyd_Mayweather_Jr.
You know what, I'll even copy and paste that paragraph into this blog:
Mayweather rejected an offer of US$8 million to fight Antonio Margarito and split with promoter Bob Arum for the possibility of a superfight with Oscar de la Hoya.[22] de la Hoya, however, postponed his decision until 2007, leaving Mayweather in the awkward position of choosing his next opponent, while deflecting accusations that he had ducked Margarito.[23] Mayweather considered moving up in weight again to fight junior middleweight champion Cory Spinks, but because of negative publicity and Spinks' impending mandatory defense of his title, he finally decided to face WBC and The Ring welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir on November 4, 2006 in Las Vegas.[24]
