Re: Roachs thoughts on oSCAR fLOYD.
i know i wont have many on my side but i dont think PBF won convincingly, he didnt dominate anything...dont get me wrong i saw him win some rounds convincingly, however if oscar didnt punch, PBF wouldnt of either, throughout the entire fight oscar was the aggressor. Im not surprised with the SD for floyd, but i wouldnt of been surprised with an SD for oscar either.

So what were Roach's thoughts on De La Hoya's split decision loss to Mayweather after reviewing the fight on tape?
“I know we could've fought a better fight. It was my first fight with Oscar and he was doing very well early in the fight with the jab," he would say. "But then in the middle rounds, for some reason, he crouched down and gave away his height to Mayweather a little bit and he widened his stance and took his jab away from himself. I urged him to get back on his toes and jab. It just wasn't there that night.
But I thought Mayweather looked good in rounds nine, ten and eleven, threw some good combinations and so forth. But I think we came back in the 12th. We had a very good round.
Good thing Tommy Kaszmerick scored the 10th for Oscar. ::**

I believe that was the round when Oscar landed 7 punches. Yikes.

Couldn't or wouldn't? I don't know. I wonder if DLH's pride got in his way. I actually think he could have won this fight with his left jab, but it looked like he just couldn't resist the urge to hit PBF with something meaningful. The more he failed at that the more fixated he became on it.
He may have also had PPV and the audience too much in his mind.
Further, there may not have been enough trust established in Roach and his wisdom to have the right game plan.
DLH could have won, but didn't.

Well, that's the kind of thing it takes to somehow score the fight in favor of Oscar. But yeah, he could have picked a slightly less obvious round to gift to Oscar.

It doesn't matter what round, when you just got a pocket full of cash handed to you. ;D
Re: Roachs thoughts on oSCAR fLOYD.
Agreed. Tommy Kaszmerick and his corrupt scoring are the only reason there's any fan-demand for a rematch (and more money for Oscar). So he was a good investment for GBP.

Very very good points,I was thinking that too. He knew that jab was working, yet he dispensed with it. A really really stupid move for someone, who in my humble opinion never fulfilled his potential in the big matches
Re: Roachs thoughts on oSCAR fLOYD.
"That's pretty funny," said Roach, nearly choking on his own laughter, at the thought. "He's a good little boxer but you can't measure him in the same sentence as those guys (like Ray Robinson and Ray Leonard), c'mon." Huh! Brilliant deduction my dear Watson.

you have it backwards. when Oscar punched PBF wouldn't punch. well atleast not as much. PBF was landing solid counter shot that would stop DLH from throwing his meaningless flurries.

True, Mayweather was not really good when faced with a better fighter like Dela Hoya. I can't believe that Mayweather is pound for pound #1. I can't even believe he won the fight. He won the fight according to the judges' card but not on the cards of people who watched the fight.
Lets see how you scored it then, put your money where your mouth is.
I'm guessing landing punches on a guy's arm and elbows scores big points on your card huh?
Re: Roachs thoughts on oSCAR fLOYD.
8) Roach did say they took the 12th saying he thought they had it by 1 round. But a close fight. 8)
Re: Roachs thoughts on oSCAR fLOYD.
Personally...I thought that Roach & Oscar were a horrible team. I was sitting just to the side of them & Roach looked & bumfuzzle as Oscar did.
If I were Roach...I'd be suckin the fwock up too to get the ride for the rematch.
Truthfully...I hope that Oscar pulls Floyd Sr. into the corner...that would be fantastic...as long as Floyd jr is gonna retire...that way Roger could run across the ring & moon the Predator after Floyd jr knocks Oscar the fwock out in the rematch.
;D
