Re: ‘Marquez pricing self out of rematch’(According to Arum)
This is the second time JMM out priced himself to have a rematch with Pac.
I just hope JMM wont accept another peanut fight against unheard opponent and get his ass robbed again.
But hey, JMM-Chris John rematch is interesting too.
Re: ‘Marquez pricing self out of rematch’(According to Arum)
Go on stick to your guns Juan and fight Barrera again. Who needs Pacman? Valero does 8) That would be the craziest 4 round fight ever.
Re: ‘Marquez pricing self out of rematch’(According to Arum)
Get some brain cells : look at the sources Bob Arum & The Philippine Star..... Since when are these rats more credible than Reforma & Goldenboy Promotions ? Lets also consider they had a draw and both beat MAB...... looks like the tie breaker is that one has a championship belt and the other does not ! Sad that that you would believe and post such crap. Perhaps it just happens that Arum has little talent in his stable and will only risk a loss if it is financially rewarding? Plus why would Arum want ODLH to outshine him again ? Then lets take a look at the Philippine media which reports everytime Pac takes a shit. Actually Philippine ebay probably sells his stools. I like Pac, hate his no life followers ....

The Philippine Star
GENERAL SANTOS CITY - Is Manny Pacquiao afraid of Juan Manuel Marquez?
The answer, according to Bob Arum, is a big, big no.
The reason why Marquez is not on the short list of Pacquiao’s possible opponents later this year, the legendary boxing promoter said, is that the Mexican champion is asking too much.
"Economically it doesn’t work," the 75-year-old Arum told Manila scribes during a coffee-shop interview in this tuna capital Friday morning.
Arum, owner of Top Rank Promotions, is here to lend moral support to Pacquiao who is eyeing a congressional seat in Monday’s elections.
"Juan Manuel Marquez is demanding a lot of money. And he has no fan base compared to Manny," said Arum. "He wants a bigger percentage (of the total pot) than Manny just because he’s the champion."
Marquez wrested the World Boxing Council super-featherweight crown from Marco Antonio Barrera last March 17, and was mandated by the WBC to defend his title against Pacquiao in September.
Marquez and Pacquiao fought in May 2004 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The Filipino floored the Mexican thrice in the opening round but had to settle for a controversial draw.
An immediate rematch was drawn up. But Marquez refused to split the $1.5 million total purse with Pacquiao, and wound up facing lesser opponents for a smaller price as compared to Pacquiao.
And for economical reasons, the possible rematch between the two sturdy fighters may not happen yet. Arum said he sees his prize fighter climbing the ring not earlier than September.
Arum has dangled the names of four boxers before Pacquiao. They are, in this order, Joan Guzman of the Dominican Republic, Edwin Valero of Venezuela, Barrera and another Mexican, Humberto Soto.
Arum wants Guzman, the reigning WBO 135-lb champion, because "he’s totally free to enter into a contract" despite the fact that Golden Boy Promotions, Top Rank’s bitter rival, has a small hold on him.
Arum described Valero, the knockout specialist, as "a tremendous fighter." But the only downside is that the WBA champ cannot fight either in the US or Canada because of a contested medical test that showed some damage on his skull due to a motorcycle accident a couple of years back.

Im with you . I'm a huge Barrera fan and it would probably be his last fight . He is alays better in rematches and he is going into this one knowing he can drop Marquez with 1 shot whereas Marquez' best shots just bounce off him . Also Barrera showed he was the better technical fighter last time contrary to pre fight beliefs . Marquez looked a little plodding and predictable on the front foot . Again the decision could go either way as Vegas very rarely seem to get it right but if Barrera gets the nod i'd love to see him close the show with a win over Pac before retireing .
Re: ‘Marquez pricing self out of rematch’(According to Arum)
well here we go again. if that article is true then iam real ashame of marquez's camp they are doing what they've done in the 1st rematch attempt and ended up fighting the lowly chris john for a stupido super cheap amount compared to the purse offered from pacman fight and then to add insult to injury, he lost to this lowly fighter and eventually helped him establish his own name.
Now is the very best time to held the most anticipated rematch between the two. The purse will be enormous, JMM camp should hopefully realize that the pot size will almost likely be over 4-5times more than other marquez's future fights except of course with barrera's case. so no need to demand so much money and stop acting macho just because he is the current champ which still meant nothing until he beats "we know who" and just accept that pacman is undoubtedly the bigger draw between the two in any angle we look at it.

well yeah it's a real shame but iam still counting and believing that someday these two greats will meet because it's inevitable. just hoping that they would do it before their career starts to spiral downwards, thus, losing some luster of hype in their much awaited rematch.

It's not that I hate Pac fans, its just that they post heaps of speculation and would have you believe it is the truth. In Mexico there are far too many news ongoings and other boxers & athletes to follow that is why you do no hear all the crap that The Philippine Star posts. Remember papers are meant to sell and writers will write anything that can sell. We all know true news in the Philippines is not reported if you value your life. As many jounalist there are forced to carry arms. So now that JMM is concerned about his finances he is afraid? While Pac man continues to make financial blunders as his latest political adventure just filled the pockets of what he believed were his friends. So it is ok to be stupid and irresponsible as long as you win fights but to be a champion & demand respect in the form of the larger purse is being a coward?
