to be honest it shouldn't matter .
I think its cos joe can make loads more money in britain than in the USA with a lot less risk. I mean 35000 saw him fight manfredo in his home country when they'd have been lucky to get 35 in the US. There is no reason for joe to go anywhere and take the risk when he can make heaps fighting chums at home.

I'm sure if you took the paypeview reveniew away from Lewis's earnings Eubanks wouldn't look so bad in comparison.
And why is it that Lennox became a ppv commodity to begin with? Because he made a name for himself by making big fights, somethink Eubanks didn't take advantage of.
Correct me if I'm wrong.. but Eubank's career was pretty much over by 1995 about the same time as Lewis got KTFO by McCall and wasn't even a PPV attraction yet.
I don't think there was even the existance of such an animal as PPV boxing before 1995? Its a little hard to make moneys off something that don't exist ;)
Um, dude, Mike Tyson v. Michael Spinks was ppv, and that happened all the way back in 1988 ::**
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
Joe Calagzhe or whatever u spell it, will STOP jermaine taylor if they ever fight.....

Hairdoo, both Toney-Jones and Whitaker-Chavez were ppv(both took place in 1994), and I happen to know for a fact that Chavez-Camacho was ppv as well and that happened back in '92 (I know this because back then it was before most people had cable boxes, and you could simply turn to the ppv channel and even though it was scrambled, you could hear the fight live (I wanted to order it but my dad wouldn't pay for it and he told me to just listen to it :D)
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
Look Joe Calzaghe needs to decide how he wants to be remembered, because earning money by fighting bums in his back yard will not give him the legacy he says he wants. If you want to fight the best you have to go to america, so stop moaning about it coz every boxers in the same boat Joe!!!
In my mind Joe C beats Taylor, he would out box him for sure. That would put him in the best possible position to finish his career with fights agains B-Hop/Winky winner, Kessler, and step up to Light Heavy and fight who ever is number 1 once he's fought them two.
so ditch warren and get yourself over to america and nail your legacy if you want it that bad.

I'm from the UK but I admit the money, the attraction and the atmosphere is in the U.S. in Vegas. If Joe wants the fight soooooooo bad as he's claiming, he should take his nuts out of his sheep and put them on the line.
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
Joe should do abit of traveling perhaps that way he will get bigger fights
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
I think Jermaine Taylor should have the guts to go across the Atlantic to England. Maybe he is just building it up and making it a bigger superfight. It is a great matchup. Joe really put Manfredo in his place. Too bad Nigel Benn was not in his prime now, That would have been a great fight between two british greats.. Even though Michael Watson beat him, Nigel was a great fighter. Nigel beat Doug Dewitt and Iran Barkley in wipeouts in my mind. Hard to say who would win a Nigel Benn vs. Calzaghe matchup. My pick would probably be Calzaghe vs. a prime Benn but it is hard to figure. Benn could punch and he punched fast but like alot of big punchers his chin was not the best. The theory is they are so intent on delivering a punch that they are not in a position to cushion the blow by tightening up thier neck muscles or ducking, They are just swinging and then getting caught. I have deviated from the topic again. One last note since I deviated-Calzaghe is probably sad he was not in the prime time of Eubank,Watson and Benn. Although he did fight Eubank, he would have made that bunch of guys the Hagler/Hearns/Duran/Leonard of the UK> yet as it is the 90s was a great era for Benn/Eubank and Watson. Anyway, I hope Jermaine gets some guts and fights Calzaghe. great fight. Both guys are exceptional. They have to fight. and Joe has to fight him soon because he is in his mid 30s.
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
Bottom line, JT has the better resume. If joe wants the fight so bad then he'll have to come to the USA and that's the way it should be. Otherwise keep fightin mediocre opponents. Strike while the iron's hot joe. You won't be at this point in your game forever.
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
No offense to Joe Calzaghe but the "Big Fights" he wants and has wanted to have are all vs AMERICANS.....every last one of them!!!!!
Well it's time Joe was the one with the balls to fight overseas.....Jeff Lacy took the trip over there as a young prospect, Pete Manfredo was never in Joe's league and he took the trip over there......Joe Calzaghe has no balls.
Roy Jones Jr. would have fought him here
James Toney
Bernard Hopkins
Hell anyone who could have made him more money lives right here in the USA
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
Bottom line...
Jermaine's the bigger name.
Jermaine is higher than Joe on most p4p lists.
Jermaine has fought p4p greats of our era in 3 of his last four fights.
Jermaine holds the more prestegious belts in the more prestigious division.
Joe must travel.

Taylor is shit he's boxing a fat welterweight next. Calzaghe would eat him for dinner. taylor is about as tough as Jermain Jackson.
........who give a rat's a** about Calzaghe
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
joe should get off his arse and go to the states. he's says he wants the big fights against the likes of winky, taylor and bhop but if he's not chasing those fights then he'll continue to miss out and those boys will continue to fight each other.
