Re: Effective Sparing
sparring is interesting. I have had friends say they kick everyones buttt in sparring, yet they never fight. Yet I know that the top fighters do not go tops in sparring. If you are sparring tall guys I guess you can use that to avoid punches and practice ducking.

Re: Effective Sparing
IMO, sparring with taller and better guys will do you TONS of good. Then, even if you're in with someone better than you but you have the reach advantage, that's huge.

Re: Effective Sparing
Way to step up Von. Lots of good shit there. I think I agree with most if not all of what you said. I like the part about daring my guy to throw something and coming in with the counter. I know a lot of times I'll wait like a second which feels like 30 for the guy to punch and when he doesn't I say screw it and just go in. I think a feint here and a little patience would go a long way.
When I watch those vids I do feel like I look flat footed and stationary. But when I'm in the ring I feel like this guy is moving all around me, I'll just stay in the middle, slip when he comes in, and save energy. I used to move more, maybe I'm just getting lazy in there, but I don't feel compelled to move about. ie I don't feel like I'm in danger until I try to get inside. when I'm outside, I feel pretty safe so I don't move around much. What do you think about this?
Also I have organized my vids into playlists by date and sorted by round number.
