Chavez had lost I think only once & was the #2 contender for the WBC strap I think...either that or WBA. Can't remember for sure...but he was no joke either. Chavez was one of the great Mexi fighters coming up until he started falling apart from injuries...but regardless...he fought many great battles & was not a hand picked opponent.
I aint going through the entire list & giving an explanation because most of them don't need one. You have fighters such as Judah, Baldomir, Castillo (2 times), Manfredy, N'dou, Jukko, and Oscar that are & were all great fighters that took pretty hard beatings while in the ring with Floyd.
You can't just discount them because it suits a fancy or because you (NOT SPECIFICALLY YOU JBIRD...YOU IN GENERAL) don't like Floyd.
Floyd has proven his greatness time & time again & every time that he beats someone that everyone hopes will beat him...once they lose...theyr'e trash...& that just aint right.
Everyone loves to say that Floyd hand picks em...but they didn't land those belts for nothing & they didn't get their reps handed to them...they earned em.
Your a better man than me, because I would not have responded to a statement like that, If Floyd hand pics opponents, just about 98% of boxers do.

Here's the thing...I've followed Floyd & Hopkins both since they (better say I) were youngin's (cause the Nard aint been a youngin' for awhile ;D ) & one thing is for sure...they won't retire until they just have to...or until someone retires them...& I don't mean over 12 rounds...I'm talkin about a light bulb couting convention.
Floyd aint retired...he started jaw jackin about a rematch the minute his ass touched a seat in a casino or his hotel. Believe that.
Floyd's ego is a lot like Hopkins but worse because he's never tasted defeat.
Even if Oscar refuses the rematch...watch Floyd in 3 to 4 months time of Oscar's refusal.
Winky Wright, Jermain Taylor, Kelly Pavlik, Paul Williams, Cotto, or somebody along those lines will pop off about Floyd & he & his little bruised ego will be in that ring so fast that heads will spin.
Sure...I feel him on the fact that there's no one else out there worthy for him to fight...ever since I can remember...he's talked about Oscar...now that he's done it...nothing else on the horizon seems to be of importance...but you have to look back on Floyd's fights...every time he's done...he talks about retirement...just as Hopkins does...but there is always that fire in his eyes & there is always the fact that he wants to do what no one else has done.
He still thrives off of the knowledge that he can move up & conquer bigger & better men & land those belts.
Watch & see...if he don't fight Oscar...he'll move up to middleweight.

nah fuck that floyd has droped titles like bad habits and very carefuly chose his pretty much whole career. i was very suprised when he took the oscar fight because it was very risky for him. fair do's for that but he has very much been a buisnessman his whole career!!

If you were talking about Hatton or Calzaghe...I could understand...but the Floyd critique is weak.
He's fought game opposition & many of them were fan favorites that he dispatched...the majority of the men he fought coming up were tuff tasks for everyone else...but Floyd blazed through them.

Floyd hasnt really officially retired yet. If you seen interviews with Roger,he said Floys is far from retired and will fight in November? Anyway,if he wants be higher in ATG lists,he needs to fight more. His resume is good,but like everyone knows,it could have been better.
There were names in and around the weights he operated in who were better than the fighters he fought. Joel Casamayor,an unbeaten destructive Freitas,Spadafora,Hatton,Tszyu,Margarito,Mosley,th e winner of the WW tourney,all look much much better on the resume.It wasn't always his fault a fight could not be made but those names were out there for sure. Superbly talented,of course. Beat Oscar easily,yes. Still a long way to go to be an ATG top 10-20 in my opinion.

I think it is worth it because he is a top world class type fighter but if Floyd is looking to gain the public respect then Shane might not be the best choice. If he beats Shane people will say "He is too old and past his prime to be PBF". He might be better off fighting Maragrito, Paul Williams, or Cotto(if he beats Zab).

This is Mosley's third stint at WW. He left in 2002, came back after his loss to Winky (2nd time) and now he returns again, he did not clean it out the first two times, I doubt if he will do it now. Besides Floyd has cleaned out the division already beating the former Lineal champ (Judah), then the second former lineal champ (Baldomir). Forrest would have never allowed Shane to do that.
floyd didnt clean out anything.. he gets one belt then he moves up.. thats not cleaning out???? thats what they call being "smart" about your opponent.. but some people call that move gutless

good that you stuck to your word man.. see.. i like it when people stick to what they say.. odlh was a risk for mayweather but taking the fight was the only risk he took. when he was on the ring.. they risk factor was gone coz he didnt risk even a single round by doing what he said he would do
