Re: WOW! Liddell Rampage SPOILER
Punch was right over the top. I've always liked Quinton's stand up. He did work with one of the Mayweather's before the first Chuck fight, and he carried it in the first two rounds of their tournament. Man that was impressive, he landed 3 punches stand up and the third did the job. That was awesome, RAMPAGE IS THE FUCKEN MAN!!!!!!
I think though that Liddell - Henderson would have been the better fight.

He wasn't the man when he was KO'd by Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in round 1 in 2005 or by Silva twice! ;D

He beat the hell out of Rua the first time through though. Honestly, I thought Chuck's stand up was better then Jackson's by now but I guess now. He threw the KO punch out of a boxing stance too.
But I've always liked Jackson because of the slams. They are my favorite aspect of MMA.

Exactly, goes to show how non informed fight fans get too excited over nothing, Liddell was shite, he looked shite beating shite, he beat tito and all tito did was crawl in to a girly little ball, no fight back.

I thought Chuck would win.
You can't blame chuck for trying.
Why does getting knocked out in MMA seem a lot less critical than someone getting knocked out in boxing?
It's like if a boxer get's knocked out, it's a pretty big deal but if a MMA's get's knocked out it's like oh well shiet like this happens.
I guess it's because the gloves are way smaller so defense is harder, plus gloves are lighter so hit harder.
If a goalkeeper was defending a 7 ft wide goal he would be expected to make more sures if the ball was bigger, or if the ball was the same size but the goal posts were only 3 ft across
I guess that analogy makes sense Teddy.
lol
and of course there's also the small fact that in boxing if you knock someone down you can't follow it up with a nice foot stomp to the head ;D

Id rather see good old fashioned quick ko than a dragged out boring fight.

Ufc is so unpredictable sometimes :o where even the walkovers can win spectacularly.
It's been upsets nonstop recently, Cro Cop getting knocked out, St Pierre getting knocked out, Chuck Liddell, Wanderlei Silva got knocked out in Pride a couple months bag, this sport is crazy :o
this is another reason why UFC will never replace boxing in my mind...there is a much more "any given sunday (or in our case saturday)" factor to MMA. Upsets are less likely in boxing i think just based on the how finely a world level boxer can tune his skills and how dominant he can become because of that.
and im not saying its a bad thing...i like the unpredictability factor in the UFC though this wasnt like it came out of nowhere. i figured Rampage to eviscerate Chuck; figured Liddell's gettin up there in age; Jackson beat on him pretty good the first time and that was four years ago; Jackson was still up and coming; and Chuck's good, he's real good...but Chuck's about 34 back then...those four years of aging i knew would transfer way more significantly to Quentin's advantage, as he is now reaching his prime at 28 and stands to make way more physical gains, rather than they would for Chuck Liddell (who is an awesome fighter but let's face it he's not changing his style; he's pretty much staying one dimensional as always; so even if he has learned new techniques and moves, you can be sure they will all be used in the same offensive swinging, balls out, come-forward IceMan style), who isn't getting any younger and may soon have to move over to play second or third fiddle to the new generations of fighters coming in.

I said Rampage was the man because he is my favorite fighter....
Re: WOW! Liddell Rampage SPOILER
....who will make the UFC better than boxing now????
Liddell said Floyd Mayweather wouldn't make it in UFC....well Chucky my boy, Floyd wouldn't get caught like that in ANY kind of fight.
I hate Floyd's attitude but he's got more skill than everyone in UFC COMBINED TIMES 1,000!
Re: WOW! Liddell Rampage SPOILER
i hope they go at it again,
it was a devastating ko, however i think they should rematch, it would be a shame if they didnt

I think the any given Saturday factor is because they make more competitive matches in MMA and there are a lot less gimme fights. It's promoters not ability that makes so many fighters undefeated. Also in boxing when a fighter loses once the commentators are asking if it's time to hang up the gloves. In MMA they don't treat a fighter like they suck no because they lost a fight.
Overall the advantage in the promotion and organization is heavily in MMA's favor. Boxing isn't going to disappear or anything, but the organization is boxing sucks. We all know it.
