Now since your a southpaw, make a smalish half moon with your left foo backards
Now again, you should feel solidly under balance
Now bring your ight hand up to slightly below your cheek
Bring your right to below with your chin, with your elbow sharply down
Now try to maintain that while working the heavy bag
The horse stance is made for awkward shaped toilets, and if done in a boxing ring it'll turn you into a billboard that has "I'm Open" written all over it.
There is moves from other disciplines that benefit a boxer, this one is not one of them. From martial arts you have a move similar to the drop-shift, a lot of styles don't have one foot forward preference which leaves for move flexibility when it comes to options. Lot's of good ideas, but the horse stance isn't anything more than a stretch for the hamstrings and thighs when it comes to boxing
Its a baseQuote:

A cat stance is a base fighting style, but yours wont have any balance if you dont build it from horse
Or to put it in to proper prespective
Start at horse
Half moon your leg in to cat
Now tighten your guard
Now get up on your toes
Whaddya know,a perfectly balanced boxing guard
Everything needs to be broken down, nothing is easy
Alright, nothing that I would do, it's cool as long as it works for you.
Chris you forgot to tell us your bad habit - everyone else has spilled! Fess up!
He's 19,everything he does is perfect ;DQuote:

In sparring I drop my right occasionally, I also commit to my shots too much which gives my friend more opportunities to counter. I haven't been side-stepping much, not counting circling, oh yeah a couple of times I left my zipper open.
Of course I don't like any of you enough to tell you my one big weakness. ;D
You do indead have a sense of humourQuote:

You don't know, you haven't even seen me fight.
I don't cock my shots back, and I don't telegraph much unless I make a mistake (hesitate) or lose my attention. I guess another thing is hesitation, only with a good friend that I've become better at boxing than him. I got him on the ropes, see an opening and I don't want to pull the trigger and hit him with a bomb. If it's with anyone else I don't have a problem at all.
Yeah this can be a problem. You should try and correct it quickly, otherwise you'll adapt to this way. If what your trainer told you is true..."half of what you're doing is wrong".Quote:
