Congrats on christening your gym Monkey! What did the announcers say when Feuer had to be introduced to fight before?

I like the sound of that. I love it when people write with accents and their local slang too - helps you picture them. :)
Had the world Police and Firey games here a few months ago and I was really impressed with the standard of the Irish 'novices'. What's more the Irish spectators were good fun - barracked for any random country when their guys weren't fighting - "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie Oi, Oi, Oi" sounds helarious yelled in an Irish accent!
I am supposed to get one paid international trip as part of my PhD scholarship to go to a conference and visit labs - I thought I'd go gym visiting too - I'll have to get you all to give me info on the best places to go when I've picked the conference. I'm thinking UK and europe since I can see a large number of countries and places all at once.

Re: I Finally Named My Gym
Meh I let another gym put their name on her
I dont like alot of fighters in mine,I cant pay enough attention to them,so I wanst to keen on people coming around after she won.
But the two main trainers at that gym are having a bitch fight,so Im taking their best fighters, just because these guys are in their prime, its not fair to hang them in limbo because you cant get along with your partner, and they have to fight out of somewhere
And in case you cynics think I have designs on a gym, theyre still getting their ameteur license out of another gym
I really dont have alot of time to f around with off the streeters,if your at FIST,your expected to win,or you wouldnt be here
Re: I Finally Named My Gym
See sharla the problem with irish people is we're great fun when we're on ur side it's when we're against ya the problem arises...But the Irish love the Aussies so ther'l b no conflict here. If it were a bunch of irish lads at an English comp, well lets just say they wouldnt b cheering :o

Right thanks for the warning - if I'm ever passing through Ireland I'll be very careful to make sure everyone knows I'm Aussie and not from anywhere else!
Re: I Finally Named My Gym

Re: I Finally Named My Gym
In soccer you had Jack Charlton as coach. hitmandonny
He used to say when talking about a match against Holland (fonetically)
I loif the Dutch
It was always greet to see the Green Army being supportive of their own team but still be respectfull and gracious against the opposition
Re: I Finally Named My Gym
Glad we're agreed :) But i find it amazing the amount of people still living in the past this way. Like for my eighteenth birthday, the traditional thing to do would be to hit the town and go mad, but i had saved up and went to see hatton fight maussa, the amount of people frowning because my favourite boxer is english!!! pure ignorance!

Unfortunately i think that trait is not as strong as it once was, actually some of the greatest gentlemen in sport can be found in the english rugby squad, not to mention th boxing gyms

I have to admit I don't knowmany Irish people but I'd have to guess we have a similar sense of humour. Aussies like to pay out the English cricket team but it's all in fun and I think we have similar sense of humour to them too. A lot of successful comedians who tour Australia are from Scotland, Ireland and England. Perhaps because theat's where a lt of early Australian settlers came from.

That must've been fantastic! How did you rate it? I always wonder if I'd be able to see anything at these big fights because I think the best seat I could afford would be somewhere waaaaaay down the back! To make matters worse I'm short sighted!
Re: I Finally Named My Gym
Ye i reckon that mite be it!
What i usually do is i save for like a year n buy a ringside ticket to a world title fight :) Then for the rest of the year im second row at a mates house thru ppv :D
The hatton mAussa fight had this electric atmosphere i hadnt expierienced before or since!
