See thats where your wrong he may of looked in shape from outside but really how good can someone be in shape losing like 20 pounds wasn't it ?? in a week i don't see how much credit you can give him for beating old shot weight drained Eubank ??
Yeah Chris did have to lose alot of weight for that fight and he came in as a short notice replacement . So we cant say Joe was beating a prime Eubank. Joe said Eubank to this day is still his hardest fight so if a faded Eubank was that hard imagine how Joe would have done in Chris' era in with guys like Benn , Nunn and Toney
Re: does calzaghe get credit for beating Eubank?
Yes and no Yes because it was Chris Eubank a world class fighter and he was fighting for vacant WBO belt No because Eubank was past his best had to lose 11lbs in 7 days and he came in at short notice for Collins he was geared up to fight Mark Prince so were'nt even focussing on Calzaghe but a win is a win.

about as much credit as I give hatton for beating KT....very little.....
:dummespost:
Yes Tszyu was shot to pieces - everybody said it before the fight and knew Hatton would win ::**
All those wars Tszyu had and those hard 2 years rest he had had and that terrible perfomance against Sharmba Mitchell all added up to an easy night and a foregone conclusion for Hatton ???
...and yes JC deserves little credit for beating Eubank. Coz Eubank had only had 17 World title victories and it wasn't as if Calzaghe was making a huge step up to fight a legend that would have 2 awesome performnaces against the World Crusier weight champion afterwards or that JC had trained to fight Steve Collins or anything

Agree with Hatton part but disagree with Eubank part yes he had good victorys in *the past* but really BIG H me and you know it wasn't prime one and to top it off having to lose like 11 pounds or something like that in a week how good can somebody be when there that much weight drained ??

in the gran scheme of things 11pounds isnt that geat deal of wieght to drop since the re-hydrate after the weigh in...
even if eubank didn't have to drop weight he was stilpast it..
but you got to look at it ice as this... joe was very young in boxing terms... cweight drop is normally a problem in later rounds wehn a boxer fades, eubank didn't.... in no way to i give joe the cred for beating him as if he beat the prim eubank... but the ring exp, savy, skill was amassive thing for hoe to overcome, even in the early rounds where a 'weight drained' fighter is expected to make the most of things, joe still won convincingly...
like i said tho, chris was old as joe was young... it was still a big big win imo
