Most people really don't know much about Jesus. They know a few things from the nativity story and things like that, but they really don't understand.
From Lyle's comments I would say that he's in that category. Knows some very generic information from which he's based his opinions.
I would highly suggest you do some serious study. It truly is the most important topic in life. Your beliefs influence everything, thoughts, actions, etc. Religion is counterfeit. It is man's attempt to justify himself to God. That's why there are so many and so varied and so much "instability" as Lyle stated. If you really dig in and find out about what God says about religion you will be very very surprised Lyle.
Im a humanist I cant lose.

In all seriousness, this is what I believe in. "All the Heaven's and all the Hell's are within you". Every concept of a Heaven or a Hell says ETERNITY, you're there forever....the past and the future all have time but the PRESENT, the NOW is the Heaven and the Hell because it feels like forever when you are happy or sad and I'm talking about the now as in RIGHT NOW, this second.
You want deep thought and TRUE teaching listen to Joseph Campbell....he taught the why of religion and the importance of the stories from all religions
Joseph Campbell's teachings inspired George Lucas to make Star Wars
Everyone's mind blown now????
GOOD!

....there you go, he makes it all very understandable.
Really everyone interested in this topic should watch "The Power of Myth" it answers lots of questions and gives you new ones to ask, but not ask other people to ask yourself
.....no comments? I figured those vids would get people talking....Joseph Campbell was mighty damn smart
I don't have time to go with this right now. I do want to watch those and comment. Just too busy right now. Let's get back to this one next week.Quote:

I've stated that i think we were created "intelligently" but not by the traditional god that everyone wants to believe it was.Quote:

I don't believe in a higher power if by higher power you mean something that can directly effect the universe as it stands right now. I'm saying it's a conscious force and it is all knowing to a degree but it will not directly interfer with the workings of the universe. What do you call a person who doesn't believe in a god but can suggest evidence that theres an "intelligent" but not necessarily methodically planned out design to the universe?Quote:
