David Gilmour makes every note count. His tone is superb. It is a matter of preference. Some people love the Malmsteems and Eddie's of the world and fast as hell guitar playing. But it truly means little to me. I prefer great tone. David Gilmour, SRV, Mike Henderson. Roy Buchanan is the most underrated guitarist IMO. CC though for the convo.
I just can't stand their slow tempo if i'm riding in a car with somebody and they have that shit playing, i'm out in like 5 minutes. Don't get me wrong i like some classic rock and all that stuff too but i just can't get into pink floyd. Being around a bunch of stoned people who are constantly saying stuff along the lines of "How can you hate pink floyd maaaaaaaan They'reeeeeee like the best band everrrrrrrrrrr" Probably adds to my dislike of them but hey if you like it go for it.

I dont really even like them that much. THey have several songs I really enjoy. but I am def. not goign to a Pink Floyd Party or something to that effect.

I'm pretty sure they wrote that Lunatic fringe song and i really like that one but some others are just way too slow.

I agree man. All the minor chords and shit. The thing isn't that the songs are so slow to me......its that they take so damn long to actaully start the song. But David Gilmour's solo stuff like "There's no way out of here" is classic to me.

lol maybe thats it. I remember the one time i was headed to mall with some friends of mine because we needed to pick up the one dudes glasses or something and they started playing this one song that was 15 minutes long. By the 4th minute i was ko'd in the backseat for the whole trip. There's no why outta here is another ok one.

Not sure if they wrote it originally, but Pink Floyd didn't record that song. Can't remember the name of the band, but it wasn't floyd. LordsGym would probably know. They still play it on a local Cincinatti station-WEBN, who calls themselves, the "Lunatic Fringe" of American FM radio.

Can't believe Kraftwerk was on there. Old school! Now that I look at this list again, Obviously they didn't go by sales. I think they tried to make a list of albums that "affected", "changed", or "influenced" music in general. But, they left off alot of great stuff. Those guys are idiots, and I like the Beatles, but these guys are on the dicks really hard.

No Michael Jackson until # 20 :(
Meanwhile the Beatles have 5 albums in the top 15.
Don't get me wrong I love the Beatles but all 5 of those albums aren't all time greats. They might have a few great SONGS, but if they are listing albums they gotta look at the whole thing.
Also Eminems - Marshall Mathers LP nowhere to be seen. :( til #302 :(
Also I didn't see Alanis Morisettes - Jagged Little Pill which IMO is one of the best albums of recent times.

I'd have to agree. Eminem could be doing this cheezy pop/rap about how fly his cars are and why he's hot (i hate that song and wish the plague to mim and hope he gets the worst of life) but he comes up with his own stuff and is very lyrically talented. The sales numbers don't hurt much either but really has there ever been something that sounded like him before him? And A(t)lan(t)is should follow her name and drown herself off the coast of cuba never to be seen again.

Yes of course. Dr John is famous as a Cajun/Blues/ piano player/singer his big hit is Coulda been the right place musta been the wrong time. Todd Rungren was a progressive pop/rock sort of guy, his big hit is Hello it's Me.
Neither are rockers. both had their time in the seventies. I could find you a couple of vids but my guess is you'd hate them ;D
Flying Burrito Brothers got their start in '69, featuring among others some players from the Byrds.
The others i've heard of but am not familiar.
