It's an interesting thought...but Vargas vs Oscar, IWO, would always end the same.
It's not just the case of the physical beatdown from Tito that caused him to lose to Oscar...but also his poise.
Let me elaborate...Vargas was never mentally there to compete with someone like Oscar. Oscar could out think Vargas & that brought him to an end. Oscar pretty much had Vargas beaten mentally before he climbed through the ropes...or actually Vargas had himself beaten.
Oscar was just there to close the gap.

I think Oscar would have used his jab to bust up Vargas and stop him in the 9th or 10th round. Oscar had a better jab than Tito and he would have busted up Vargas in a situation where it went to a brawl with Tito.

Might be just me. But do you think Vargas was fighting top opposition far too early in his career? I think he could have been a lot better but was rushed into fights with guys who were far more experienced.

I have always said that he was rushed. I thought that he looked good against Quartey...but clueless against others...especially after seeing how befuddled he looked at times in against Wright.
