Exactly.. Almost like it doesn't matter if he is boxing or not. In my mind he did not add much to the boxing scene. He was such a weak champion that two former middleweights fought him to win a piece of the heavyweight title.

Maybe you are right. I guess he did the best he could. But if there was one fighter who I would have rather not seen fight ever it was Ruiz.

You should've watched the bouts i watched of his... Beginning to end.. and i haven't seen him "fight" yet. He hugged, he groped, he grabbed his crotch and fell to his knees.. but if he fought somewhere in between, i guess i missed it.

Amen to that.
Its not even the boring style that pisses me off the most, Its the fact that he runs his mouth like he's the best boxer ever. He's the first mexican heavyweight champ (wether he was born there or not i dunno but nonetheless thats what hes dubbed). Basically he's the worlds only fat mexican athlete. He's total garbage and if he would happen to be killed in a very public, and very brutal way (ala dimebag darrel, fucking ohio) i would not be too overly upset. He's boring, the fact that he had a belt shows just how bad the rest of the jobbers in the division were and just how washed up holyfield was/is.

Ohmigod! I can't believe I just read all this.
Punisher, I'm gonna make believe you didn't really mean all that garbage you just wrote. By the way, Ruiz is of Puerto Rican descent, not Mexican (not that we want to claim him, mind you). And yes, he's boring as watching grass grow. Yes, I'd rather get a root canal with no novocaine before watching another one of his fights. Yes, I'd like to see him retire.... he has nothing to offer boxing in terms of entertainment value. But let's not get morbid on the guy.

I think the quiet man was a very good boxer. he was just unlucky that he never had speed. the devastting kayo from tua always stuck in his mind too...
OK im a big ruiz fan so maybe im bias:p but there were a shit load worse champs the John, valuev sould of never been champ coz ruiz fucking beat him, he just got screwed!
I think alot of people underrated ruiz for his bozing skills cozhe lacked speed and would use the punch and rgab tactic to much. he was a good boxer!

Ok maybe they said first hispanic heavyweight champo but w/e. Did you see him the last time he was on friday night fights? "If we have a rematch and toney isn't on steroids i'll beat him" He's a fucking joke. Him returning will set the sport back 30 years. Don't worry im not gonna go after him, there's always the clip of tua blasting him out in 20 seconds. ;D. If he does return i wanna see him in the ring with Wlad or Vitali, that should put an end to his comeback.
Punching and grabing is not boxing. Clinching 30 times a round should result in a dq.
Re: John “The Quietman” Ruiz Planning Ring Return
He is the perfect example of why the heavyweight division fell off so much. He gets paid millions of dollars to hold on for 12 rounds an eek out a decision. Holding doesn't take skill. Its boring to watch and even having him in the division discredits boxing. He's a bum that needs to stay retired because hes trash.
Re: John “The Quietman” Ruiz Planning Ring Return
I can not agree with john Ruiz being the worst World titlist as someone said earlier int he post.
i think once you see the great Mzonke Fana the it is game over. Sparked by Barerra in 2.
As for Ruiz love him or hate him he did have some decent wins on his record but lets be honest. He will be remembered for losing to somebody who came up from middleweight and getting Ko'd by Tua in 19 seconds.

I'm DEFINITELY not gonna defend him. And yeah, if he's really gonna return, I'd like to see him against someone who's not gonna let him clinch and hold his way to a horrifyingly boring decision. Someone like Wlad would force him to KTFO or be KTFO, more likely the latter.

Right, sure it will.
Some a yous get a bit to excited about things to have meaningful conversations. Ruiz isn't fun to watch in the ring but it's hard in the midst of such overstatement and hyperbole to find value in some of these comments.
The first post could have stood on its own, and this would have been a good thread. Down hill from there.
In fact, it's going to set Saddo's Boxing forum back 30 years!

He is a very under rated fighter, But boring to watch wrestle
