Wow, heres the bit that seems most shocking:
"Measuring the forces applied in football studies, the team also worked out that Hatton's average punching force is more than twice the kicking force of a Premier League footballer."
I dont envy Castillo too much right now.
I am not too impressed with stuff like that. If you measure most boxer's punches and they have time to hit a non moving target, I am sure it will have alot of force. Castillo wouldn't be too far behind Hatton. Hatton is going to win on Sat. because of skill not power.
I would say Castillo hits harder than Hatton

Really that shocked you?
Heres what really shocked me.
"Researchers initially thought Hatton was packing a right-hand with 1,500kg (3,307lb) of force behind it. "
"But a re-analysis of the data found the figure was about 400kg (882lb) - still 10 times that of an average person."
These researchers must be some of the stupidest researchers around cause look how off they were.
Thats like telling a construction worker "How long does that nail look?" and he answers with "12 feet long".....
How the fwock can these "researchers" be so off I mean they missed by a little over 1,000 kgs. :D
Your right man. cc :detective:
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
Now then, I hate to rain on poor little Ricky's parade, as he does look like a strong little man, but similar research carried out by Swansea University found that Enzo Maccarinelli could punch with the force of 3 1/2 tonnes. Granted this in itself is not too bad, as Macca is many divisions above Hatton, but apparently Maccarinelli's power is TWICE that of the average person. Ricky Hatton's 400kg punch....I assume it's measured in metric tonnes, would see him punch with about 1/7th the power of Maccarinelli, therefore, 2/7th the power of the average man. Having proved to be definitely average in all aspects of my existence, at least I can punch 3 1/2times as hard as Ricky.
I reckon some scientists somewhere have cocked this up.

As I said in my post, virtually all modern trivial science is bollocks. These experiments are obviously carried out by those stupid eggheads who didn't score that well in their physics exams and so arn't trusted to play with proper equipments.
I can just imagine the shame it must bring when the head of your faculty is dividing people into projects, saying 'you guys go work on cancer research', 'you guys I want to research into the continuing impact of global warming, 'you guys can help me design a new lunar module. 'Ok Thornton and Cartwright, just go into the playroom and do whatever the hell you like,'.
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
Someone measured my 'Punch' once and it was full of illicit substances 8)
It's all a load of old b*llocks to say that someone can punch harder than a pro footballer can kick.
Are they trying to tell me that Hatton could punch a football twice the distance say Beckham could kick it (hypathetically speaking)?
Fack off!!!

This sounds like one of those hypothetical questions you get in the pub. "Would you rather get hit in the face by Ricky Hatton or kicked in the face by David Beckham?" Indeed, I'll be using it this weekend right after "Would you rather have breath that smells like sh*t or a laugh that sounds like farting?"
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
hahahahahahaha ;D ;D ;D
Now that IS a tough one to call ;D

I mean somebody like David Beckham can smack a ball virtually the entire length of a football pitch and I just can't see one of Ricky's punches having that kind of power. ???
And does he punch twice as hard as ALL footballers or just the average strength ones?
Secondly 10 times more than the average person? What does this even mean? ???
10 times more than the average based on all the men, women and children who live in the UK?
Or 10 times more than the average adult male in the UK, not including the disabled and gays?
Or 10 times more than the average adult male weighing 140 lbs exactly?
And where do they get their scores in the first place? How do they know how hard all of these people punch, have they done mass testings on the UK population? I wasn't asked to participate, were any of you? ???
As you can see each of the above rule would give a completely different set of averages so the 10 times stronger statement just means nothing at all, like most of modern day trivial scientific research to be honest ^-^
Ha ha, This man thinks like I do. CC Bilbo. This is just another kind of promotion. Does Rocky 4 sound familiar anyone.
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
The closest Ive ever been to being KO'd by a blow was from a footballl at point blank range, think Lauren Robert and Olivier Bernard but closer together. No punch ever felt like that. The kid was about 5'2 and the best part of 8 stone.
I agree, its nonsense.
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
Hatton hits pretty hard for his weight. I remember they did a little artical a while back. Let me see if I can pull it up. Okay here it is: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/6529755.stm
