Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
There are a special few athletes that are blessed like that.....Herschel Walker was one of them.....never lifted a weight in high school just push ups and running and he was a fucking beast of a man.....one guy who literally could have played in the NFL as a College Freshman

because rooney and d'amato said mike never did weights, non of the fighters at catrskill did cause d'amato reconed a fighter would lose speed
he was right also. Remember that fighter in the 80s or early 90s named Mike Williams? Is that the name?? I forget sort of.. He was like the second coming of Mike Weaver who was too big to be effective in long fights.
yeah i remember mike williams. but yeah to much muscle bulk slows you down! i agree with d'amato (the greatest teacher of boxing) imo
Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
People who lift and don't stretch or do anything else get slowed down but MUSCLES don't do it....look at Holyfield he's fucking ripped and he was not slow
Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
Well he was slower than mike tyson in hes prime.
Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
Tyson was huge naturally. D'Amato didnt like his fighters using weights in case it caused them to lose agility

I guess with D'Amato, everything was built on offense and good head defense to step inside and land blows off the defense. But when his fighters got old they didn't have the opening off the defense anymore since the defense was gone. But his style was successful, but not for long term boxing.

it could have been effective for a long time had tyson stayed focused and dedicated(ie no distractions) and stayed with the white boys who made him the fighter he became
Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
...once again if you don't stretch before and after lifting you lose flexibility and become "musclebound" why do you think guys like Wladimir who is also freaking swole as hell can get punches off so fast.....and don't give me the "he's also slower than Tyson" no fucking SHIT he's also almost double Mike's size.
Holyfield was quick enough to be effective as well
Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
HEEH u just can't compare Klitscho and Tyson.. Tyson was fast as hell and Klitscho is just walking around the ring??? hes just waiting one good hit? and hes arms is 500% slower than tyson's omfg? but yes hes kinda powerfull!! thats true but these days there is only b-class boxers around.
well i just can't understand how tyson can get biceps like he had without doing even pull ups? He just did floor exercises: 2000 sit ups; 500-800 'dips'; 500 press ups and 500 shrugs with a 30kg barbell and 10 mins of neck exercises so?? tell me how u can get biceps if u dont even do them? heh kinda funny? okay he was big boy when he was kid but that doesn't mean that he had big muscles too? im so sure that cuz bait him something special pill's :)
Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
Oh get off it....Wlad is 6'7 240 something he's fucking fast as hell for that size....Mike was a small guy yes he had good handspeed and everything but hell it's nothing Floyd Patterson didn't have....Mike just had some weight behind the punches.
You can exercise muscles just by flexing and relaxing...that's all any of those exercises are.
FYI the triceps are the bigger muscle in your arms not the biceps....so by doing dips you'll get some huge ass arms....besides biceps don't do much for throwing punches, they are a pulling muscle not a pushing one.
Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
I think Tyson did isometric exercise like most boxers.....weight training using your own body weight, push ups, pull ups all that stuff. I think huge muscles hurt a boxers speed, and dont really help you hit too much harder. p.s. its not isometric, but sounds similar....I'm alot of help...
Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
....plyometric??? If so that's more explosive power training like jumping pushups and so on
Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
floor exercises: 2000 sit ups; 500-800 'dips'; 500 press ups and 500 shrugs with a 30kg barbell and 10 mins of neck exercises <- that was hes bodyworkout since 1988
And i know that triceps are bigger than biceps but if u watch some photos of mike tyson u see how big hes biceps was that was my point :) Doesn't matter how much u run or how much u do push ups they wont help you build biceps =)
Re: Some Questions of Mike Tyson
Do the biceps grow by punching the heavy bag? Sound pretty incredible

First off, it's damn hard to translate your typing, but i get the idea.. why are you so obsessed with this? Tyson was naturally big.. punching power doesn't come solely from your biceps, why is it so hard to believe he didn't do curls or bicep workouts? Isn't that the idea of Tyson being such a fast/strong and versatile boxer? He was naturally ahead of most people out of the gate as far as strength goes.. he didn't have to build it up.
