Re: Mayweather has no choice
Mayweather has tons of options, and yet he decides to keep calling out the old, inactive guy he just beat. If that is his attitude,he can fuck off for all I care. I love watching him fight but boxing is about giving the worthiest contenders oppertunities to prove they are the best.
Re: Mayweather has no choice
imo i don't see mayweather fighting a junior middle for long. he has no power at that weight. who's he knocking out at 154? (besides cory spinks where both fighters would be decided who's going to be 'it' in a game of tag)
1) winky would be too big for him now that he's settled in at middleweight.
2) there's no big name fighters aside from de la hoya at junior middle
tons of fights at welter.

I believe Hatton brings way more money to the table, he basically brings a new market to the table( the british fight market) Hatton v Mayweather is a rich fight, Hatton earnt £5 million in the fight with Castillo and that wasnt even ppv in the States.

So all of a sudden Floyds not allowed to posture? believe me as much as I am a fan of both Cotto and Hatton, Floyd would put on a clinic on how to expose a leaky defense ;) Again not convinced look at Gatti, very similiar to Hatton maybe lost 2 steps by the time Floyd fought him but nonetheless Gatti is a very underrated Boxer in term of skill and is an extremely tough pressure fighter. But he couldn get in on Floyd and when he did Floyd slipped out and punished him severly

Sorry Jt but did you comapre Hatton to Gatti again correct me if im wrong because thats the way it looked well if you were i would like to say Gatti is nowhere near Hattons class Hatton knows how to get close swarm you and is much better fighter im not saying he would beat Mayweather but people are giving Hatton no chance i think it would be tougher than alot of people are saying on here and same goes for Cotto vs Mayweather aswell.
Re: Mayweather has no choice
hatton has waaaay more of a chance against mayweather than gatti did. gatti fight was a mismatch from the beginning.
prediction:
a) mayweather by decision.
b) if anybody was getting knocked out... it wouldn't be hatton

i agree to compare hatton to gatti is a joke, think bout this gatti doesnt stand a chance agaisnt callazo, doesnt stand a chacne agaisnt even a shot kostya or castillo, hatton is a top notch fighter but i just dont see him beating mayweather
how bout cotto vs hatton? thats a crazy matchup

There are similarities in terms of toughness, determination, heart and pressure..... Those alone WILL NOT win you a fight when you are up against a fighter that can equally take a punch is determined and is on a whole another level of quickness, speed, defense and his hands down the most purely skilled class Boxer on the planet, who is crafty and a hell of a mean streak to boot...

Completely unreasonable, professional boxing is a so-called sport but above everything else it's business and it has a lot to do with the media. Press releases such as the Ring Mag and Broadcast Television Companies such as HBO Sports took over and the contracts are the main prizes, not the Commision's belts... Therefore, if you want to know who fights who next, you need to read the latest articles on that matter or hear analists like Larry Merchant in the telecasts or understand which is the tendency of the pressure put on the promotional groups by the press ( aka the public)... And these Cotto and Hatton results will only lead to fights some time from now so what is already on the table, Floyd beat Hoya and retired, only un-retires for a big purse and a favourable split so the only man in condition to fight him is the the man that the WBC mandates him to fight or a promo group like Golden Boy Inc puts more money for, and that is undeniebly Shane Mosley, expect Floyd Shane for late November 2007
Re: Mayweather has no choice
Regardless of the outcome of the fight, you miss my point JT. A Floyd fight with Hatton,Cotto etc is exciting. It's against a young, hungry, guy who is not inactive, not coming off a loss and not old. Yet he calls out Oscar?? The part time boxer he just beat? WTF?

WTF no, dat is what u would do, Hoya still generates more money than Cotto cos he's the Golden Boy from East L.A. and those PPV stats prove it but Hoya can't fool the media and most already dismissed him, so Floyd goes 4 the next guy and dat has 2 be business wise - Floyd can't fight Jermain who is too big and he can't fight Pacman who is too small, he can't fight the WBA Champ Cotto no matter how many Puerto Ricans would pay 2 c dat, he can't fight the WBO Welter Champ cos he is about to fight Williams next and then Cotto, he can't fight IBO Light Welter Champ cos dat definitely doesn't make sense, he fights WBC contenders at his natural weight class ( he said he's a natural welter, didn't he?) and dat's gat 2 be Mosley or else forget about Floyd 4 the next year or so

To fair bro didnt you just describe Hatton and Cotto's last 2 opponents...A ton of miles and inactive cause of weigh issues and on the slide Castillo.... Lost last 2 fights and coming off a 1 year suspension Judah..
I would challenge anyone to argue that either of those fighters were ever on the same level of Delahoya and even the one that fought on May 5th and I also challenge anyone to argue either of those 2 fighters had/have more in the tank than Delahoya when those matches took place...
I dont mind these debates Gamo but I get aggravated when things get twisted to make Floyd look like he feasts on inferior comp, when indeed compared to what his contemporaries are doing, he dont look bad afterall in his matchmaking ;)

Callazo gave Hatton all kinds of problems, PBF fights like him but much better................

Judah didn't lose his fight before Cotto,it was an ND ;D ;)
I take up your challenge, your telling me Cotto would not be as much of a challenge than Oscar? An Oscar that has fought 3 times in 3 years and lost most of those fights? Do you really want me to dissect that argument? Cotto is a beast at 147.
And Judah has PLENTY left in the tank, are you saying he is shot because Cotto KTFO him? So Oscar must have been shot when B hOP KTFO going by that thinking?
I don't mind these debates either but I don't see what point you are trying to make. My original point was I don't see how fights with Cotto/Hatton/Mosley cannot be made yet Floyd is willing to call out the guy he just beat, the part time promoter, part time boxer? Like I said,if that's all Floyd is going to do,no one needs, and we can just sit back and watch these warriors fight each other.
