Re: Could a brit be P4P #1 soon ?
Hatton has a stronger case if he beat cotto than calzaghe does if he beats kessler and heres why:
By beating kessler, calzaghe beats a fellow undefeated fighter and that earns him some credit
By beating cotto, hatton beats a fellow undefeated fighter and that earns him some credit
Here's the difference: Hatton is coming off a win against a world renouned boxer who has some great wins on his resume while calzaghe is coming off a win against... well you know. ;D Beating two great boxers in a row gets you more credit than beating 1.

If Mayweather stays retired. The number 1 fighter pound for pound becomes Rafael Marquez. It's that simple. His resume speaks for itself.

Of course by the same token, cotto knocking off judah, margarito (from what i expect), and then hatton if the fight happened, would have a very strong case.

i think is Jc came over to fight the winner of hopkins/wright he be pound for pound no 1 and would solidify all the praise he's been getting without ever doing anything to earn it...although i think to still be undefeated is great because to be undefeated in a professional sport is remarkable regardless of who you're fighting
Calzaghe would have to beat kessler and the winner of wright/hopkins to even be in the conversation.
if hatton is in the conversation then certainly Jc should be in it..because before last night hatton only had wins over Kt and collazo..calzaghe the same with wins over eubank and lacy are pretty much the same thing...
Hatton's wins over Tszyu and Castillo are more impressive on paper than Calzaghe's win over Lacy IMO, but the sheer brilliance of his win over Lacy showed his ability to be P4P material.

Rafeal is probably the most underrated boxer on here...
he is p4p the most powerful (in both hands) in boxing...
