I totally agree.....although i don't think this topic was started from one of those perspectives..that one of the things i love about this site i may be just missing it but rarely does anyone bring race into boxing here....and that's how it should be
I wasn't really trying to say this was racist, I was just making the point that it's pointless catagorising the two skin colours separately when discussing the best. Why would you want to?
ah mate your statment is the kind of pc crap that make me :puke: to be honest
I guess asking who the best British fighters of all time are is wrong as well as we should not allow ourselves to be seperated by ideas of nationhood? ???
If it's acceptable (and it is) to discuss the best Mexican fighters, or best Europeans etc then it is also entirely acceptable to discuss the best White or Black fighters.
It's always the pc brigade that bring racism into everything. This wasn't a thread about colour or race at all before but now you have made it so............ :-\
Re: TOP TEN WHITE HEAVYWEIGHTS OF ALL TIME
Here's my top ten,
1.) Jack Dempsy: Tyson emulated him decades later, exciting style, hard hitter for a small guy. 8)
2.) Rocky Marciano: 49-0 even though I wanted Valuev to surpass that mark.
3.) Max Schmelling: He didn't beat the best, he KO'd, outsmarted, and humiliated the best; Joe Louis.
4.) Gene Tunney: Constrast to Demspey, he brought intelligence to the heavyweight crown.
5.) Tommy Burns: First white fighter un-afraid to challenge a black boxer; need I say more?
6.) James J Jeffries: He was a racist bast@rd, so was most of America. He still was undefeated before he met Jack.
(( Now to my favorite part )) ;)
7.) George Chuvalo: Robbed against Patterson and always gave problems to "The Greatest."
8.) Jerry Quarry: This man had skills!!! Too bad it was in the 70's!
9.) Joe Bugner: Courageous! I believe he was in his 40s that he defeated a man who went 10 rounds with Tyson.
10) Billy Conn: My personal favorite, because this little man took it to Joe Louis and hurt the GREAT Champion.
Potential:
Tommy Morrison almost made it, afterall he did defeat older Foreman and Razor Rudduck. 8)
Vitaly, if he had stayed. Wladimir if he can keep it up. Gerry Cooney destroyed Norton, yet Ken was on the slide.
And Roland La Starza, who gave Marciano problems. 8)

Read what I said. I never said it was racist. To be honest, I hate political correctness. But my argument on this one is that I just don't catagorise by skin colour. It's just silly. Would you start a top saying "who are the top ten heavies with brown hair?" or "who are the top ten heavies with brown nipples?"
I see no point to naming them, because being white has no relevence to how good a boxer you are. It's not a variable of skill.
Re: TOP TEN WHITE HEAVYWEIGHTS OF ALL TIME
Why isn't Ingemar Johannson being mentioned anywhere?
