Re: i have watch the fight 100 times.....
Buster would have beaten any version of Tyson on that night. He came to win.

This is dumbest comment i've ever heard Holmes is top 5 hw of all time and would make Douglas's jab look stupid Bowe was one of the most talented hws ever and Holyfield was great boxer with great handspeed who beat the stuffing out of Douglas in 3 rounds jeez where do these clowns pop up from thats one of the most ridiculous comments i've ever heard Douglas basically beat a Tyson who was a punchbag and didn't train and his corner didn't even have proper stuff for swelling Douglas could have give Tyson a tough fight even in his prime but Douglas was far from perfect that night he was almost koed it was actually like 13 seconds what VD said but Douglas did get up at 9 and a half but my god it was a very slow 9 count i can tell you that now.
they must come from East Side Boxing ;D

But I'll be damned if I don't agree with the poster. Douglas was awesome that night. No two ways about it. He bullied Tyson around the ring, used his size, his reach, threw combinations, the works. Tyson gave it his all. Did he have the wicked head movement from the late 80's? Maybe not at 100%. But he was no slouch in there. You gotta give Douglas the credit he deserves.
As to who he could've beaten, I gotta tell you.... I'm not a big Holmes fan either. I know you feel he's top 5 all-time, but I just don't feel that way. I gotta admit, I don't like Holmes the man, 'cause I think he's racist. So maybe that colors (no pun intended) my opinion a little bit. But I think Holmes got the benefit of fighting some good fighters, but a lot of mediocre fighters as well. Yes, he had a great jab. But he was no Ali... something that ate at him throughout his career. Geez, I've never seen such a sour and bitter man.
Anyway, that's my two cents worth.
;D
Thats fine Tito your good poster i respect your opinion im just saying if you don't consider Holmes top 5 hw of all time whats your top 5 then ?? as for his opponents he didn't always have greatest opposition but Ken Norton Earnie Shavers x2 Tim Witherspoon Michael Spinks Renaldo Snipes Gerry Cooney he beat good opposition and also beat crap opposition and also mediocre opposition but was Joe Louis record any better ?? yet he is considered top 3 hw of all time Holmes was a great fighter who had great jab and great boxing skills and would have give Ali problems in his prime based on what he achieved he is in my top 5 hws of all time.
Ok moving on to Douglas vs Tyson i give Douglas credit for the win but Tysons headmovement was not there at all he hadn't trained and didn't even have proper swelling stuff for his eye that was closing rapidly Douglas fought a great fight but was far from perfect like this guy is trying to say.

I agree with pretty much all of what you said, ICE, but I think "that"Tyson gets beat 8 times outta ten by "that" Douglas... He was great that night... Course there were alot of variables outside of the ring but I digress... Douglas never fought that good or would again... But there are many that would take him apart... MANY... Ali would have jabbed the taste outa his mouth!!! And sorry but Holmes would lay lumber like a carpenter :-X

Ken Norton, check. Earnie Shavers, check. Michael Spinks, half-hearted check. Gerry Cooney, check. Tim Witherspoon, check. Renaldo Snipes? Errr..... not so sure.
Naw... I see your point. But you asked for my top 5. I'm not that good at rating all-time heavyweights, but IMO, I would rate the following fighters ahead of Holmes:
Ali
Louis
Marciano
Foreman (KO percentage, level of opposition)
Lewis
If pushed, I might be inclined to put Tyson and Holyfield in there as well.

An underachieving good boxer. He had skills. He just chose not to use them consistently.

I think he's aware of that.
And you're beginning to sound like a child.
