Re: Jones says he’s ready for Trinidad comeback fight
I guess RJJ is ready for a guy that's a natural WW & has'nt fought in 2 years since being shut out by winky @ 160.
What would this fight prove?
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a guy earning a living. As long as there is a market for this fight then good for them. But if these guys want to attempt to fight there way back to the top they may want to look in another direction. If they're lookin for paydays (I would'nt blame them) then good luck to them but they should not be put into the mix until they fight top 10 guys. Just my opinion.
He's ready for that $$$ that Tito's name along with his may be able to bring to the table.

Tito would be well out of his depth at Supermiddleweight and Lightheavyweight.

Totally agree with the three of ya's!
Anyone worth his or her boxing salts should know what side of the fence this one falls on...the one covered in bullshit!!!
Which is what this fight is or will be if it materializes...BULLSHIT!
Re: Jones says he’s ready for Trinidad comeback fight
Tito was a big puncher a WW & looked like he could'nt break an egg against Winky @ MW. RJJ is just too big & still way too fast for Tito to deal with. This is a fight that RJJ would love. I agree with u Wacko, this is a BULLS**T fight that I beleive would not do boxing any good at all.
The shameful thing is that with good promoting there is a market for this type of fight.

If Tito's serious about the comeback, there's lots of other intriguing matchups that could be made. Personally, and even though they're both past their prime, I still think the public would eat up a match between Tito and De La Hoya (myself included). There's also Jermaine Taylor.
Hell, even a rematch against Bernard wouldn't be out of the question, assuming BHop sticks around that long. He's probably close to retiring by this time.
But the bottom line is Tito's mentality in coming back. IMO, he's got absolutely nothing to prove, or add to his already legendary status. (Was watching some old Tito fights the other day and got kinda nostalgic for the good ol' days). But if he's serious about coming back, all the more power to him. Boxing misses him as much as he misses boxing.
I am totally burned out on Delahoya. Tito/Delahoya is not an attractive fight. The Jones/Tito is attractive yet Jones has all the advantages..
Re: Jones says he’s ready for Trinidad comeback fight
I'm really stoaked about a Tito comeback. I just think he's chosen the wrong guy to do it against. I'm telling you, if Tito can still make 160, he could make all kinds of noise there. I don't see anybody there right now who would'nt have serious trouble with Tito. He might even tempt DLH and PBF to come up to 160 ad then just swim in all the $$$$ those fights would make.
Oh well, Tito was never the smartest of cats. Here's to hoping for a lucky pounch against Jones.

It's up to Tito's management who he gets in with. Like any fighter that loves to fight, I suspect Tito would get into the ring with just about anybody. He never ducked anyone in his career. But like you, I think RJJ is absolutely the worst opponent for Tito in his comeback. Too much weight difference, as I said in another post.
Re: Jones says he’s ready for Trinidad comeback fight
I seriously doubt this fight will ever get made.
Re: Jones says he’s ready for Trinidad comeback fight
WTF,what a pointless fight. However, you can see Tito's perspective, they probably offered him huge amounts of cash to come back and fight someone. RJJ,in this stage of his career, won't give a beating to anyone therefore Tito probably sees it as easy $$$ even if he does lose. Then there is a possible fight with Oscar.

Re: Jones says he’s ready for Trinidad comeback fight
I bet De La Hoya has itchy feet thinking about the money that could be made on a rematch and avenging defeat, after this latest un-retirement.
Re: Jones says he’s ready for Trinidad comeback fight
This would be a great but dangerous fight for both.
Roy Jones's chin was shown late in his career. When he got hit, we saw him go down.
Tito's chin has always been weak. and he has had trouble early in fights with boxing style fighters but then came in the later rounds to score KO's or a decision.
I don't believe in ring rust. That is what sparring is for and these are two great fighters that have fought for so long. Maybe for the first minute or two but thats about it. Tito doesn't need a tune-up, he needs to hope that his power is there for him in those weight classes, because if not, Jones will win an easy UD or maybe score a KO. If Tito's power is the same as he did in the other weight classes.....Than Good luck to RJJ.
Against Tito, you need to come in deffensively minded. I don't think RJJ will!

Would you seriously want to see Tito vs DLH again? Tito vs Mosley would be the one for me!

Agree that Mosley would be a great fight. I have to admit that Tito should have better options for his come back since RJJ will be too heavy for him if this fight is at 175. I'm not sure if RJJ would still be willing to make 168 as he was considering at some point when this fight was first mentioned and Tito was at the top of his career. This may be the best chance Tito have assuming that RJJ will need too much efforts to make 168. But, honestly I believe Tito should be looking to other fights such as Mosley, Taylor (I think Tito have chances of winning by KO), De La Hoya. But to watch Tito-De La Hoya we will probably will have to see De La Hoya - King first.
Re: Jones says he’s ready for Trinidad comeback fight
IMO tito was out of his depth at middleweight in his prime, what makes him think he can come back at middle now or even higher is beyond me.. roy jones may be shot, but he aint shot enough for tito to beat...
Has tito lost all his cash or sumin?
