Re: So what do you think of Amir Khan now then....?
in a similar post last week , i stated Khan was over hyped and that he will never bo number 1 in any division even if warren gets him a title.
he has limeted power - questionable chin ( limond had 8 ko's ) - rushes his punches.
all in all hes a nice kid but not the next great :)
Re: So what do you think of Amir Khan now then....?
Wonder where this will leave him in the rankings ;D

CC, I've watched his last four fights now and that's a good way of putting it. He does get too sloppy, he needs to calm down.
He's got ability, but I'm not sure if he's gonna be able to pull of being an "exciting" fighter though, don't see a whole lot of power, and his chin has got be a question now.

Like Smashup said, you can't train somebody to have a granite chin. He's going to have to work on his defence and stop trying to sit down on his punches and use his boxing skills if he wants to progress past domestic level. Even being number one domestically may be beyond him. Forget Katsidis/Diaz/Casamayor etc.

He's reminding me more and more of Errol Christie.

So that leaves Khan (what a fight) and his thriller to discuss!!
He'll learn loads from that but where did the speed go? where was the superfast footwork?
I think he's trying to sit on his punches too much now and get the KO (he isn't a banger at all imo) which i don't agree with at all.
Khan did well to get up and turn this round but let's not get carried away as Limond can't punch for sh*t and if you stick Amir in with a banger he's licking the canvas early.
Future World Champ..? F*ck off ;D
You can't train someone to have a granite chin ;)
Then they should train him to stop being so flatfooted and go back to the way he used to fight with angles and counter punching and speed. F*ck what the media says about his style if he changes it for the media he'll get knocked out. He said in his shoe commercial that he wanted to be a legend, then he needs to go back to doing whats best for him and his career not whats best for his popularity of his style, he should rather be a winner then a crowd pleaser, crowd pleaser's get many credences for their wars but generally don't last past age 35 and nowadays never win the big ones(Arturo Gatti and Mickey Ward for an example). I'm sure if you asked Mickey Ward would he rather have had the 3 wars with Gatti or been a world champion and a legend he would choose the latter.
Exciting fighters get the hype, exciting boxers get the victory, why can't Khan decide what he wants to be? Last night showed what he should never ever try to be again. So you get a first round knockout against someone with that style and impress HBO with that style against no ones, but the moment you try that style on someone who knows what they are doing, bang! And you're on your arse. Amir Khan, go back to your old style and perfect on that and get the fundamentals down on it to make it your own before its too late.
Re: So what do you think of Amir Khan now then....?
I think he has all the tools offensively, but without doubt he will get sparked when he fights a big puncher, unless he can go back to the drawing board with his defence. He has so much talent and you can see that, but you can also see his flaws and how he fails to use his talent. If he had just got behind the jab and worked the body, Limmond would hardly have laid a glove on him and would've been worn down inside 8
Re: So what do you think of Amir Khan now then....?
Khan definitely has a lot of work to do, but I wouldn't rule out his chances to be a great fighter just because of this knockdown. There have been a lot of great fighters who were knocked down by mediocre opponents early in their career. Oscar, Trinidad, and Whitaker, just to name a few.
Re: So what do you think of Amir Khan now then....?
If Khan can get knocked down by a light puncher by Limond, hes got no chance against a big hitter and Khan was gone when he got knocked down. i was screaming at the tv KNOCK HIM OUT WILLY.

Me to i have a 7 month german shepard who thought it was all a game and as i was jumping off the sofa she was jumping up and down as well barking and going berserk, trouble was my 5yr old was in bed asleep.
but seriously his chin is exposed and i read somewhere that Limond had watched the tape of the fight and stated that the ref gave Khan 13 minutes to recover and he is fuming. What we cannot forget is Limond is a part timer any body else with a half decent punch and he would not have got up what ever the ref counted to.
