Re: Alfonso Gomez vs. Ricky Hatton
Hatton would obliterate Gomez. Nothing against Gomez, but he is nowhere near that level now, and I don't ever see him even smelling elite status. This doesn't mean the fight can't happen because money always talks. ;D
@ 140 Hatton KO 3
@ 147 Hatton KO 5

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't tar everyone with the same reality-tv brush, but I still reckon Gomez needs a few more profile wins before he even gets on to Hatton's radar. The British public will hardly accept a fight against Gomez after all the recent talk about Mayweather.
I feel the same about a Malignaggi fight to be honest. He's hardly big league is he?
Malignaggi's only loss came from a pound for pound champion who is perhaps the most feared puncher under 160..
And he handled himself quite well against a stronger more experienced guy....
Paul is right where he belongs....Many laugh at me but in a few years Malinaggi will be a top name in this division...
I also believe they will work on his power as time goes on
Re: Alfonso Gomez vs. Ricky Hatton
Lets be realistic, Gomez has given up weight to middleweights and never been stopped, I fail to see how Hattons going to do it.
Hatton UD, not as easy as some think either.

He can take a shot, and he's a smaller WW who has genreally moved up to fight competition. Hatton, while obviously at an elite PFP level, did have a hard time when he moved up to fight Collazo. This is nothing man, you ain't insane.
I've read some insane shit here and this ain't one of 'em.... ;)
You wanna see insane? I've read here;

I like Paul actually. Think he's a tough kid when you strip away the cheezy hairstyles. However, the two things you really cannot teach are power and hand speed. These are physical gifts you either have or you dont. Gomez has what Paulie does not. But if it were Paulie vs. Gomez, I'd give it to Paulie. Can't hit what you can't catch and Paulie is just SO much faster than Gomez.

Gomez has nothing to offer Hatton in terms of a challenge IMO
and I don't like Hatton
I'm with Greg "The Killer" Sheep....Hatton would muller Gomez from what I saw over the weekend, Gatti looked really bad in there, more than Gomez looking sensational for my money. And although Gomez is a contender star....we saw what happened the last time a Brit fighter fought someone from the reality TV show. ;)
You guys are a joke CASTILLO looked really bad in there last month , more than HATTON looked sensational for my my MONEY. Also Manfredo was beaten by a younger lighter Gomez. Gomez has fought many middleweights and never been knocked out. Gomez would not be KO'd and would give a good show. However for him to win he has to have 1 or 2 more fights with serious contenders to get a better gauge. Why you guys lift Hatton for beating a washed up Castillo is beyond me.

That has little to do with it to be honest. It's all about his style. The speed at which Gomez throws is nowhere near
where Hatton can throw at, I can't see Gomez being able to get anything of value off. Furthermore Gomez is slow to
pull back into his defense it's a style made for Hatton to annihilate.

F*** NO NO NO NO NO NO F*** NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
I knew this S*** was gonna happen. Once gomez beat gatti, i knew we were going to hear abunch of talk about who should face gomez next. Stop it!, leave it alone!
Let nature take its course, let him fight whomever he can, let him lose and lets pretend we never even mention potential matchups with him please. We never talked about him before, lets not start now.
We are about to have sergio mora get what he deserves against Ouma, k9 got lit up, we are on the right path to righteousness. Dont mess it up now :'(
Re: Alfonso Gomez vs. Ricky Hatton
I'm actually with Memphis on this one Gomez would be a tought fight for Hatton at 147 lb.
Gomez is a big, strong, durable Mexican who would enjoy a big natural weight and size advantage over Ricky.
Ricky isn't very good against guys stronger than he is, look at Collazo and look at Urango he didn't look very impressive at all.
Gomez is a far better boxer than people credit as well and his only losses have to been to Ishe Smith, Peter Manfredo and Jesse Feliciano.
If you ask me there's no way on God's earth that Hatton beats Smith or Manfredo either they are both far too big and Jesse Feliciano is an underatted fighter. Lacking in boxing ability he makes up for it with heart and a never quit attitude.
To be honest I'd see both Gomez and Feliciano as tough nights for Hatton at 147 lb. His style doesn't lend itself to moving up through the divisions, when he faces a guy he couldn't bully around the ring he struggles.
Re: Alfonso Gomez vs. Ricky Hatton
Hatton was On BBC Radio 2 tonight and he said Him and Mayweather was hopeful for November. Its just a matter of promoters and managers sorting it out!
I will be making a special trip to Vegas if this happens - even if i have to go on my own!
