Re: Calzaghe v Hopkins. Where should it be held?
Cardiff would be a guarnateed 40 odd thousand people. But how late can the fight be held to cater for US ppv ?? (don't think they would allow it much later than 11pm ish ?)
Yankee Stadium ? Not sure how many they would get at the gate here. What do US boys reckon ? Joe would certainly take about 10 thousand across with him
As someone said it's where the more money can be made and though I reckon it's time Joe went abroad I really think there is more money to be made having it in UK.
This fight has to happen - if Joe can get by Kessler which I am sure he will
How about a double header at New Wembley Stadium with Hatton Mayweather !! ;)
just a dream I know ;) but imagine the attendance

I suppose it should be held in Vegas (if it happened) as that's where the big fights are held. But the venues are proper S*** >:mad.
I know the UK makes sense because they'll make more cash. But wouldnt it do a lot more for Joes legacy if he crossed the pond and beat BHOP?
I mean if he won a close decision in Wales, his critics would say the judges were biased, ref was biased, etc. Or is Joe all about the money and not the Legacy?
would do more for an american fighter going to someone esles back yard and winning a fight too...
Joe has already gone to another fighters backyard and won the belt when he went to england and beat eubank...
;D

Go to an Eagles Giants game
As far as where?
LA,its nobodies back yard, the Staples Center holds plenty for gate, and you make 5 times as much off the PPV

Re: Calzaghe v Hopkins. Where should it be held?
This is stupid. Americans always says: You have to go to the US because it is the place where the money is.
Now we have a case where the money is in EU and then the EU fighter must go to US due to a 1000 stupid suggestions 8)
Dirty B-Hop must go to Europe if he wants to fight the champ - else he can continue fighting old borring fighters in the US without great public attention.

Hopkins and Winky couldnt even sell out the arena. That how low the interest was there. And Hopkins talks about fighting in a US stadium?! The logistics dont add up.
Calzaghe would have to be the interest and that means letting his fans spend a fortune shipping themselves over to the states :-\

He could earn more by going to the UK and selling PPV and getting a share of the huge revenue in the stadium itself.

Which is of course why they "offered" Taylor 3 mill
The purse for Calzeghe/Kessler isnt going to be that high

If you really think so then keep on believing it. It took a lot to get this fight on. I think a good pay packet on either side needed to be attained and it was. You can speculate all you want but unless you can offer some hard facts to back up what you say then keep quiet.
Hopkins cannot sell seats. Calzaghe can. Calazaghe can even fight at home at 2am to keep HBO happy. Calzaghe can satisfy all sides. Hopkins cant.

Which is of course why he wants the fight at Yankee Stadium, that seats upper 40's,and has hosted some of the most legendary fights ever
Because he cant put people in the seats
Which is why hes routinely sells out the Spectrum
Let me explain to you why you get paid 3 Mill to put 9000 buts in the seats an Mandalay Bay
A)PPV buys,if its airing at a time when Americans are up,youll get more buys,bigger market,more buys,period
B) Ticket Prices, there are no "seats for your average joe' at Mandalay
C) Gambling, the type of people who can afford those seats, arent just going to "go to Vegas watch the fight, and go home"
Theyll be dropping plenty of coin on the tables as well
Re: Calzaghe v Hopkins. Where should it be held?
I am American and I vote that is in Cardiff on a time that is reasonable for Americans.
I think that is reasonable compromise.
Joe can fill the seats and Americans can order the PPV
What do you think?
