Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
The sooner Evander gets his shot, the safer it will be for him. He's made it clear he ain't going to quit until he's undisputed champ.
I think he has a good chance against this guy, but he's going to have a hell of a hard time against the others.

1. Ibragimov, though being possibly the weakest of the HW title holders, is still a young, strong tittle holder that could beat up Holyfield bad.
2. Assuming that EH actually wins, he will just risk facing some other young strong fighter who would give him another bad beating.
3. Sultan is not even a real champ. Even if Holyfield wins this would mean another BS title to add to the one he won off of Ruiz. Holyfield was NEVER a four time champion and beating Sultan defenately does not make him a five time champion.
This fight is like putting a nail in the coffin for the heavyweight division. To think that these guys were about to have the first unification fight in 10 years and thing might start looking up.
What a crok of SHIIIIIIAAAAAATT
Naah man, you got it twisted. We can't just call the title holders we don't like BS, and then heap praise on other fighters cause we like them or rate them better. At the moment the best thing we have are the four alphabet belts, and we can't disregard one, and then praise another. It's far from perfect, and one governing body would be much, much better, but until then we have to look at the belts as world titles in my opinion.
So you take one of my points and disect it and forget about all the others. The main problem I have with this is that this will only increase the probablility of Holyfield getting permanently and irrevocably hurt, if he is not already.
This hole stuff about having an american champion is also crap. What US is the only one worthy of having a HW title? Is this the only way the division is any good is if the champ is american? And how long do you guys actually think he will hold that title?
And frankly, until these guys start fighting eachother and show the word that they are the best, I don't think any of them are real champs. Even Wlad who keeps fighting people that don't have a chance in hell of beating him. It is like he decided to take 10 fight streak of tune ups so he can recover from being knocked out twice.
I'm sorry, I'm just venting cuz this is starting to get frustrating.
Didn't mean to make it appear as I'd drawn one point out, I just felt that my previous posts had dealt with my views on the comeback of Holyfield, and whether or not he'd have the tools to reclaim a world title belt and defend it. As far as I'm concerned, having the world titles all in the hands of Eastern Europeans, whilst not in itself a bad thing, is going to have repercussions on the sport, as most of the average boxing fans in the western world won't have any interest in seeing Ibragimov v Chagaev taking place in Moscow, quite simply as they don't recognise the fighters and don't identify as much with them.
Therefore, it will, in my view, lead to a lessening of the sport, as what as always been the 'showpiece' division of boxing will not have any major fights getting big attention on the networks in the biggest boxing audience in the world, the US.

This may or not be true depending on who you ask...but i agree with ya in part but it doesn't matter....this is what evander has dreamed of and was told would NEVER EVER happen and now sadly or not he has a real chance at being champ, and he won't care how it happens. I for one will be rooting for him.....good luck evander.
Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
Its funny I was watching Evander on a talk show and he sounded a lot better than I've heard him for a long time. He was mumbling or sluring and he sounded to a degree articulate and showed a lot of awareness most punch drunk people don't.

Evander worked for all his titles and is one of the most exciting fighters to step in the ring ever

I find that statement so hypocritical... Seeing that in your post you said Sultan wasnt a real champ to begin with ??? so per your standards the unification bout is a total farce

Not as bad as your post ;D
Yes, I'm sure Gatti also worked hard for another title, especially after getting his faced beaten to a pulp by Oscar, he goes to 140 and gets himself a belt. What did he get for his effort? He gets Maywether to wipe the floor with his face. Then people say oh but that was Maywether, P4P #1, lets give him a shot against this jurneyman who beat an unprepared Judah. Then he gets pummeled by Baldomir. Then the guys at HBO said lets make some money and put "the human highlight reel" in with this tv star nobody and this time Gotti gets a third lip and thankfully retires.
Guys giving fighters like Evander a title shot is NOT GOOD FOR BOXING and is certanly not good for Holyfield. Lets say he wins. Then he will be an old living legend with a title. It will be like open season. Every tittle holder and his brother from 175 up will one a piece of him, starting with Wlad. He's going to get battered and beat again and again untill the fact that he recently won a title is of no more relevance. THIS IS NOT ROCKY, it will not have a happy ending. It will be brutal and it will be sad.
BTW, just because I said Sultan is not a real champ does not chamge the fact that he holds a title and that his fight with Chagaev was a unification fight. I was just stating facts not going on my oppinion. If all the tittle holders would hurry up and unify than we would finally have a real champ. So far we don't.
Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
I think evander could do it, really i do.. he is fucking warrior, he will go to hell and back to win the belt!
Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
I'm giving him a very good chance of winning this fight but you have to admit its sad he's able to win a title these days regardless of what he's done in the past.
Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
wow this is great honestly, i want to see this just as much as i would a unification, who noes mayb evander will decide to unify the belts ...................jp
how boyut this wat if, this turns out to be a great fight and alot of americans no holy so it mite bring the heavyweights back to being watchable

Precisely what I am talking about.

Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
Even though Ibragimov-Chagaev wasn't going to be a great fight, it was a huge step in the right direction unifing the titles. The heavyweight division needs to get this done and Evander fighting for a title won't do that.
Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
Maybe it would do some good for american boxing. I do root for him to win this fight and if he unifies (no matter how sad it may be) against chagaev maybe boxing would have a turn around. He's the only one with a shot at it right now so i really don't have a choice do I?
Re: HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!
Great news for Evander, this is best possible opponent imo. He has a chance, although this fight is certainly not a gimme. It will be a tough slog for Evander but if he wins I guess that he will then face Chagaev with a real chance to unify two belts :o
Who would have really thought that a year or so ago?

I remember the threads saying the comeback was a joke (even i said it was) and he'd never be a figure ever again but this is just unbelieveable.
