There is no doubt the only fighter Mayweather missed who was a real threat was Kostya Tszyu at 140lb.
Mayweather could have moved up anytime in 2002/3 to fight him before KT injured his shoulder.
It's interesting that Mayweather fought Bruseles only two months after Tszyu KO'd Mitchell, having not fought since beating Corley in May 2004!! (Why didn't Mayweather fight Tszyu that November?)
None of the other fighters mentioned on that list would have beaten Mayweather.
I'm not sure KT would have either, but he would have been a very dangerous opponent for PBF if they had of met back then, i don't think Floyd wanted any part of Tszyu.
Tszyu losing to Hatton blew any chance of a match up in 2005 anyway.

I don't want to take anything away from Maywether. He is a great fighter and no doubt an all time great. He still has a chance if he stays at the now red hot WW division and beats some of these champions like Cintron, Cotto, Mosley or Williams. It would have been great if he had come up about 8 or 9 years ago and seen how he would do against prime versions of De la Hoya, Mosley, Quartey and Trinidad.

My 2 cents: Cotto has great power but I question the chin against floyd. Williams may be ready after a couple of more fights under his belt but I can see why people say he's ready for floyd after what he was able to prove against Margarito.

1) Cotto 2)Margarito 3) Hatton 4) Williams 5) Mosley...Need I say more. Not taking anything away from floyd, he's good and all but you must fight the best at every division you stop at. Not fight Judah and Baldomir and then go up knowing you have Mosley, Maragrito and Cotto still left to fight. Fought Gatti for the 140 belt and avoided then champion Miguel Cotto and still champion Hatton. ??????? I've said it all along, PBF knows how to pick his fights and opponents.

He was dominate under 140lb no question but above that he has certainly been picking easier options hence these questions always comming up. Even fighting Hatton at 147 is ridiculous when there are more legitimate Welterweights such as Moseley and Cotto, and even Williams. Fighting Hatton at 140lb would have helped his legacy since he beat the man who he avoided, but fighting Hatton does very little for his claim to be the greatest ever!

It's called 'being brought along at the right pace' Which is why Hatton is where he is now!! e could've fought somebody too good too soon and be nowhere. Fact is he beat Tszyu & Castillo and is now fighting PBF, so you need to find a new argument spud gun ;)

Who says those guys are the best
Cotto- Needs to be reavaluated after the Mosely fight to seal his legitimacy as worldbeater status seeing he has done nothing but pick the remaining meat off the carcasses of Fighters Mayweather has already beat
Margarito- Anybody who wasnt a rabid fan of the guy knew that he wasnt anything special to begin with
Williams has the abiltiy to trouble and create hell for anyone 147-160
Mosely- is still pretty dangerous at 35 and the most bona fied fighter on the list that has an established Hall Of Fame legacy fighting pretty much the way he was in his prime.
To me Mosely is the only one at this present time that gives Mayweather more impact on his resume and legacy

Why are people still hanging onto Margarito, saying that he's one of the guys that Mayweather has to beat to cement his legacy? Did Daniel Santos cement his legacy when he got the ko over Margarito 6 fights ago, or something like that? Not exactly ;)
Is Paul Williams now a Hall of Fame lock because he just beat Margarito? No, now he's proven that he deserves a shot at bigger names in the welterweight division, nothing more.
Mayweather is fighting Hatton, so the haters should scratch Hatton's name off their list of people that Floyd's never faced.
Cotto and Mosley are fighting soon, and the winner of that will probably be fighting the winner of Mayweather vs. Hatton. Unless of course, Mosley needs to go on vacation with his wife or gets another tooth ache like he always seems to do whenever a Mayweather fight is on the horizon.
Cotto just beat a guy (Zab Judah) that when Mayweather beat, the haters said that Mayweather was avoiding Delahoya, Hatton, etc. etc.
It was Cotto's team that said that he was not ready for Mayweather, not the other way around ;)

I think Mayweather can safely call it a career after Hatton and the winner of Cotto/Mosely. Why would he fight the loser, unless he loses to Hatton. It makes complete sense that the winner and losers both fight each other.
If I were Floyd, I would fight Hatton, assuming I win, then fight the Cotto/Mosely winner, then take a solid year or two off. Let some hype and speculation build up and see if a name emerges in the Middleweight, because Taylor and Pavlik will be long gone by then. In fact, once those guys leave MW, maybe Paul Williams moves up and Floyd fight him then.

Floyd could come in at 147 beat both the klitschko bros in the same night at heavyweight and people would still talk shit cause they have another brother out there somewhere we didn't know about and he'd be a punk for ducking him..or a bunch of claims about how he was running and a chicken for outboxing them and not going toe to toe......

This is kinda extreme but i get where u are coming from. Some ppl will be unhappy no matter what floyd does. He is a natural 130 pounder who beat a great fighter at 154. Not bad really.

I think you are right here, he beats Hatton and then fights the winner of Cotto V Mosley then call it a day. Nothing else to prove after that.
