Re: Who will Oscar fight?
Margarito is a really good opponent for ODLH at this point, I agree. He would have to beat Judah as said earlier, or Cintron again. Cintron I believe would beat Marg this time around though. Marg vs. Collozo, ?Quartey? perhaps would help his ranking?
At this point I clearly don't see ODLH beating Winky, Mosely, Williams, Cotto, or Forrest. He possibly could beat Clottey but I would not bet on it. Hatton is someone he could probably beat because of the size difference.
Although Oscar is aging, he has no problem with long periods of inactivity these days and will wait for an opponent that he can either beat or one that will draw lots of PPV. Cotto would fall into the latter category and Hatton would fit both.
Unrelated but I think Forrest v. Quartey should be a rematch. First, the first fight was a robbery for Forrest. Second, I see Forrest as being vastly better than he was on that night so he could seal his first victory since his injuries problem is over. Thirdly, I see it as an even fight that would be interesting.
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
my only problem is that i think the question should be who will fight oscar. it makes me sick how even when he loses he gets to pick which top fighter he wants to fight.

He has the money and the influence to do the selecting. Like what a very corrupt politician I know always say "What are we in power for"....
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
I'm just throwing this out there but what about Spinks? Good story behind him, performed well against Taylor!
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
I've read he wants to fight Ricky Hatton in Wembly stadium after Ricky knocks-out Floyd ;D

I think DLH would be way to much for Hatton! But the $$$ it would make would be crazy. It's a pity Floyd's gonna spoil it all!
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
If it's at 147 I'd love to see Oscar fight Kermit Cintron or Zab Judah, just for the sheer hell of it to see what happens. At 154 I'd like to see him fight Corey Spinks, that's be fascinating. There's 3 younger guys where your not sure what the hell happens in the fights, and they are perfect measuring sticks, big enough names to sell and all hungry for the big money fights.
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
However if I'm in the mind set of Oscar and Schafer then he's bound to fight Quartey again. That's an easier win yet still has credibility because some people think Quartey won, so they can use that angle to sell the fight, which at the thought of this makes me want to :puke:
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
I think Quartey would give Oscar a real fight. Wasn't his last fight (or that I know of) with Winky?? He didn't look awful considering going up in wieght and opposition.
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
I think it is pretty obvious that Oscar will fight Hatton at 147 next. Regardless of what happends in December. It is not like a loss in the opponents record has ever stopped DLH before. And there is no guarantee that the winner of Hatton/Maywether will fight the winner of Cotto/Mosley. This is just an ideal scenario for us boxing fans but many times boxing is not that simple and things get in the way. How many of us, myself included, were calling the hole Williams/Margarito/Cotto/Judah fights a tournament?
It is likely that if Mosley wins and if Maywether wins they may fight. But there is one very big if and one possibly troublesome if here and it is still not a done deal that it will happen.
I am 100% sure that Maywether did not bring more money to the table than DLH did. This is all part of the plan. DLH wants Ricky to fight Maywether. It give Ricky huge exposure to the american public. The best case scenario for him is to fight a smaller man who will bring the fight to him and has just beaten the #1 P4P. A victory will give him that all elusive career defining win against a top fighter in his prime. The worst scenario is to fight the smaller man who just fought the #1P4P fighter and gained more american popularity to add to his already huge fan base for trying to make a fight against PBF. Either way the fight will be a huge money maker.
All the talk from DLH, the move down to 147, the rumors about Wimbley arena, it all points to one thing. Oscar Dela Hoya vs Ricky Hatton sometime early next year.
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
Oscar De La Hoya should grow some ball and tell his wife where to stick it. If he wants to fight Cotto so be it, so what if hes PR its not like hes related to his wife in any way. Cotto v De La Hoya would be a great fight and Oscar wouldnt be that much bigger than Cotto like he is compared to Hatton. Hatton cant fight a big WW as his physical advantages and rough house tactics wont work. Collazo pushed Hatton all the way De La Hoya will send Hatton into retirement. I think whoever loses the Cotto v Mosley fight will face Oscar its the logical option for both men as they will both be coming off losses and both Cotto and Mosley are a bigger draw than Margarito, Williams ....
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
I think he should give Sturm a rematch ,but we know that wont happen. I like Oscar but he was given a gift that night and I dont think anybody that saw that fight could disagree. He lost and he should try to avenge it.
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
First of all, too many of you are giving Oscar too much credit for his performance against Mayweather. Though the judges ruled it a split decision, that fight was as unanimous as any Mayweather win in recent memory. Perhaps it was ruled a split decision so that interest may be generated for a second fight in the near future. Second, in terms of who will be Oscar's next opponent, the question is, who will make Oscar the most money? Right now, the best money making opportunities for Oscar are Hatton, Cotto (especially if they defeat Mayweather and Moseley respectively), and Mayweather. A second fight between Floyd and Oscar will not generate the pay per view buys their first fight did, however, it will still generate a good deal of money. So for Oscar, it all depends on if he dares step in the ring with bruisers like Cotto and Hatton (we know he'll get in the ring again with light hitting Floyd).
Re: Who will Oscar fight?
You guys seriously think Oscar can make 147?

I don't see why some of these people want Oscar to fight Spinks it would be boring fight and Spinks would make Oscar look bad he has the style to do so if i was Oscar that would be the least fight i would be thinking of.
