im having a hard time imagining how margo became faster than campas, carr...
Campas ? Really?Fact is that Tito was clipped numerous times early,Stephans had him in all kinds of trouble and no speed demon he.I think Tito would put himself in range quite though finding Tony often....Margarito would have to back Tito up and I think he could. This would be a great back and forth and no doubt Tony would have to weather some stiff shots.....The late rounds would be interesting.

campas has relatively faster feet and hands than margo. and yeah, he too wasnt a speed demon. margo has not yet faced somebody who punches like tito. tito could even turn the complex of the fight with his hard jabs! tito can always beat margo to the punch at any point of the game.
Re: 90s vs 2000s WW Round 1 Felix Trinidad vs Antonio Margarito
Tito had a bigger punch than Cotto, but he had something else over Cotto which would have served him well against the relentless Margarito..... stamina. Tito's stamina was exceptional. His cardiovascular recovery time between rounds was one of the best. He could go on and on and on and on. And while Margo's chin is truly awesome, at some point Tito's huge left hooks would take their toll.

I remember Campas as a more compact punching, heavy footed type.No doubts that Tito was much more fluid and faster hitter Than Tony and his jab was like a piston, wonder how Tony's skin would hold up early?Imo,This would come down to a fight of attrition.Margarito has faced different aspects of what Tito would bring but I'll say, not in the complete package as a prime Welter Trinidad.Just as Tony may not have faced the great speed + accuracy = power of Tito,Tito at welter never faced anyone that would bring the huge frame & constant physicality and punch volume of a Margarito.Tony no slouch in the stamina department either.
All this talk, just a shame we never had the chance to see it.Think it would have been great.

right on. it would have been great. imo, what separates campas and margo was their punching technique. while campas compact punching was really really good, margos stragiht punch sucks. it was one of the worst among big names. i dont i think it would work against either campas or tito whose fighting assets include compact and accurate punching technique.
Re: 90s vs 2000s WW Round 1 Felix Trinidad vs Antonio Margarito
Tito would go down a few times, but I could see him possibly TKO Toni, the key 2 beating Tito is 2 outbox him,I dont see Toni doing this.Toni is taylor made 4 Tito, would love 2 have seen this! I'd be cheering on 4 Toni though! It wouldn't be a big shock 2 me if Toni stopped Tito though!

When he uses his range,Tonys long right is just fine!I think Tony would come underneath forward leaning Campas all night with uppercuts and at range would cause Campas headaches. Both run risks here of breaking they're hands on the others granite heads Lol .Campas was a top notch body puncher but I could see Margarito grinding him down.....possibly causing a stoppage in the corner.

campas game was to get inside and throw all he can. hes pretty good at that (the record speaks for itself). what could another slow fighter do to stop him from coming forward? jabs and footworks? unfortunately margo was not known for those departments. if campas chooses to mix it up and rough margo in the inside, i see a campas stopping margo in late rounds. the better infighter wins this one and its campas

Funny the assumption that Margarito would be so detoured by Campas coming forward?Fine tuned or not with his reach,Tony is more than capable at varying an attack from the outside and inside and his volume on a forward moving Campas with body shots and short upper cuts witch would take a taxing toll.Tony's defense to the body gets little acknowledgment and I think he would cause Campas much grief inside with multitude.Don't remember J.L. Lopez looking to purley outbox a primed Welterweight Campas either ??Some similarities there Imo.I see him stopping Campas late.

Re: 90s vs 2000s WW Round 1 Felix Trinidad vs Antonio Margarito
I think this would have been a great fight, ultimately I think Margarito's workrate would win the day, that's how I voted although I by no means think It would be a blowout.

Save the U-tube clips, been there....done that....Tito was not overly effective backing up,side to side he brought much faster hooks and his jab was quality but I think Margarito could back him up on his heels.Tito could be gotten to early, though he bounced up with vigor,At 147 Tito never faced a fighter with the size endurance & volume of Tony.I think Tito would come forward in finding Tony hittable, leaving him available for retaliation.A great fight back & forth ;D but to call it a sure thing for Trinidad is pretty up in the air.
