Torres is on a streak here so I think it would make for a interesting fight.
I think Torres and Holt are going to have a rematch
What for?
Torres beat him, Torres didn't cheat.
The only thing I see there is a hostile crowd that was getting out of hand.
The same way there was a hostile crowd on the night of Chavez-Haugen, Paez-Groove I, Benvenutti-Monzon and even more recent Valero-Mosquera there was a hostile crowd there.
Loud chants, flying objects there was an uncontrolled atmosphere.
Did that cause him to loose the fight? Possibly.
Is that cheating? No.
Monzon and Valero both fought in their opponents turf/home and got past the chants/roars, objects and crowd.
Holt lost and that's that, he needs to move on and so does Torres he needs to look for his next opponent.
I think Torres vs. Witter should be it BUT come on we know it ain't happening, I think Torres - Urango would make for an interesting fight also.
Why? Because controversy creates cash, especially in the modern day. A rematch would sell a lot in the states and they'd probably put it on PPV
Yeah! right.
If HBO didn't bother with this the 1st time around there is no way they are bothering with a rematch if it comes off.
#1 this fight hasn't even been talked about much as far as the actual fight (not the contrevarsy) I'm talking about the fight. It took most sites about 4 hrs. to have something up once the fight was finished, BoxRec themselves usually have the results up 1st took there asses hours also to have the result. Now the fights getting attention but for other reasons, even then neither fighter is high profile enough for this to be PPV.
On the undercard of a major fight possibly, the main event HELL NO!

I think that Witter - Malignaggi is a terrible fight for both camps. It would kill both their careers. Witter looks best when he's counter punching and Magic Man likes to peck his way to a UD. They're both decent boxers but todays fight game calls for more action.
Here's my top three picks for Juniors next bout (which should ideally be this year to build on the momentum)
1 - Ricardo Torres 32 (28) - 1.
Torres' only loss was a donnybrook against Cotto two years ago, in which he became the first man to drop Miguel before succumbing to a 7th round KO. Since then he's outpointed Arnaoutis & Mora (a Witter KO victim) and then had last weeks' controversial KO win against Holt. Let them unify in Miami where's there's plenty of Colombians & Brits to bolster the live gate. Witter has as good a chance as any of defeating Torres and I think his sharp counter punching could KO the South American within 5 rounds.
2 - Gavin Rees 27 (13) - 0.
I have to admit, I didn't give Rees a chance against M'baye. His previous 26 opponents had a combined record of 316-731-44 for a 67% losing percentage. In fact his only fight of 2007 was against Billy Smith who had lost 84% of his previous bouts! BUT, he rose to the occasion and beat a decent champ. This could be a decent fight but I'm still not convinced by Rees and think he would be out jabbed in a so-so bout by an uninspired Witter. Saying that, we don't know how good Rees is until he loses...
3 - Juan Urango 18 (14) - 1.
OK, so this one is a harder sell but we all saw Ricky Hatton holding on and being out-manned by (or fighting smart against) Urango in the later rounds. If Witter can do a number on Iron Twin then he has extra leverage for that elusive Hitman fight. I doubt if anyone can stop Urango at 140 but Junior loves come forward guys. It would be a great gauge for the Bradford boxer and a massive result if he won by KO or at least downed the stocky brawler a couple of times.
I know I rate Witter higher than most of here, but I've always been a fan of the Ingle Way. His biggest problem is the "hit & not be hit" style but if he fights good opponents often enough people will overlook that. Junior only has a couple of years left in the game. He needs to fight every 3 or 4 months.
No Paul Malignaggi ?? that would be Witter's best option for certain but thinking about this again i wouldn't mind seeing Witter fight Paul Malignaggi or Ricardo Torres just aslong as its one of them.
Torres would be dangerous fight it always makes me wonder how much better he could of done against Cotto had he not come in 2 weeks notice.
Re: Whats Next For Witter?
Here are the WBC ratings before the Harris vs Witter fight.
Chammpion:Junir Witter
1 .- Vivian Harris (US)
2 .- Timothy Bradley (US)
3 .- Herman Ngoudjo (Canada)
4 .- Marcos Maidana (Argentina)
5 .- Jose Luis Castillo (Mexico)
6 .- Juan Lazcano (US)
7 .- Jungbum Kim (Korea) OPBF
8 .- Demetrius Hopkins (US)
9 .- Norio Kimura (Japan)
10 .- Ajose Olusegun (Nigeria) ABU/COMM
11 .- Lovemore N'Dou (South Africa)
12 .- Francisco Figueroa (US) NABF
13 .- Gianluca Branco (Italy)
14 .- Cesar Cuenca (Argentina)
15 .- Samuel Malinga (South Africa)
Juan Urango is ranked 19th so I suppose there isn't much chance of a voluntary defence against him.
I suspect that Frank Warren will keep Gavin Rees away from Junior Witter.
If it was a fight with Torres I suppose it would have to be in America to make it happen can't see either travelling to the others backyard.

Re: Whats Next For Witter?
The fight that makes 100% perfect sense for Witter is Hatton. Obviously that's not happening anytime soon, if ever.. (Please Junior stop hurting Ricky's feelings with your nasty disrespectful gob ::**)
I think the Paulie fight would be pony too.. surprised it's even being considered.
Rees is the obvious match but that's the one most defintely NOT going to happen.
Torres would be Witter's best match. He'd look impressive doing a number on him.

Torres is probably the most dangerous for Witter Torres can bang if he catches Witter with clean punch its game over for Witter he will have to be 100 percent for Torres.

So could Harris though, I THINK THE HARDEST FIGHT FOR WITTER is Malignaggi

For sure Torres is dangerous but so is Witter. Witter has the better chin, the better form and more to his game.
I'd make Witter a pretty good favourite as it goes.
Re: Whats Next For Witter?
What about Dhop? If junior beat him it might give him a bigger profile in the USA.

I see your point, but he could make a bigger profile by beating Malignaggi as...
1. He's a fellow world champion
2. As a result he could unify
3. Malignaggi is recognised by HBO so he'd get real TV exposure.
4. D-Hop is alot greener than Paulie, as Paulie has been in with much better opposition.
Eagle...why not Nonito anymore?
Re: Whats Next For Witter?
Maybe to prove a point that he hides away from noone, maybe Witter should be accepting Oleguson's challenge.
Re: Whats Next For Witter?
I'd like to see Witter fight Zab again to try and avenge his only defeat. Malinaggi is my 2nd choice but i think Witter would give Zab a run for his money this time around.

I think Witter would beat him let alone give him a run for his money
