I once read that as a party trick he would put a broadsheet newspaper on the floor, stand on one side and invite a member of the public to stand on the other and try to hit him. It may be an urban legend but the stories of him going unscathed during this trick wouldnt suprise me.
Actually, this was a trick of an Aussie Boxer named Young Griffo who fought in the 19th century, although he would place a hankie on the floor of a bar and dodge punches for drinks. He was a brilliant boxer but a severe pisshead so never reached the heights he should have.

Definitely one of the unluckiest boxers in memory - the guy was a genius. Kalambay and McCallum were both absolute top class and he had a shout in both fights. Th Brewer fight broke my heart :'(
Re: Happy Birthday Herol Graham
His career is overshadowed by the solitary image of him being caught by one of boxings most famed punches.
Re: Happy Birthday Herol Graham
Hagler v Graham isnt as easy for Hagler as many think. I remember Finnigan giving Marvin fits in there 2 fights, Finnegan being in front before cuts.
Re: Happy Birthday Herol Graham
Someone agrees with me at least. It is not impossible but the time may have been right. I know he blew his number one spot by loosing to Kalambay, and believe he had personal problems including Ingle not being in his corner. Also against McCallum he got disqualified a point which was unfair and that would have made the fight a draw. Eubanks and Benn would not have dared fought McCallum and we all saw what he did to Watson. Herol Graham was the best of that generation but did not earn the fame and fortune that Benn and Eubanks did.
